'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

Uzzi91 posted this about Carl Lawson on VQ about 4 days ago

Auburn was his first offer, and they recruited him well. He just likes it. His dad is not a big fan of auburn. My guess he ends up at FL state or UT

Carl is a bit tricky... His heart says auburn but his logic says 3-4, team with an upward trend. He wants to play early...I think he is a bit conflicted and will not really focus too much on his college choice until after the season.

He comitted to auburn mainly because they guaranteed him a schlolorship even if injured. Call it insurance.

Since then they have done a good job but do has UT and FSU. Ole miss is in because off his high school coach. USC because he wants to visit and all the hype around that program. He enjoys the fame no doubt about it.

He should be there for bama if the stadium is rocking he will love it.

The high school coach being a factor in his decision is ridiculous.

M. North said his coach encouraged him to go to UT in the summer for a visit, we've been his leader ever since. Goes both ways. Not saying it's okay for coaches to force kids one way or another but they almost always have an influence.

Oh, well then, carry on. :)

Seriously though, I don't agree with it either way. JMHO.

Kam Miles is another one. As is current UT freshman McNeil. Coaches can almost always sway a player.

You got to look at it from their perspective. For most of these kids, they have known and played under their head coach for at least 4 years. He's the one that taught them everything they know. I can't say I blame them for listening to their coach's advice; I would.

Me either. FSU was odd.

I expect to see Lawson in the UT orange come signing day. JMO

I feel better about Lawson than i did about Henry, it's just hard to picture a stud like him picking Tennessee right now considering the shape the program is in, Sal will earn his paycheck with these type of recruits coming in.

Yep, definitely on the same page. Henry was showing signs for weeks that Bama was his choice. Lawson, on the other hand, really likes Sal. I'm hoping we can win 2 of the next 3 to solidify recruits like Lawson, Bell, and North. But I guess we will see. The only game I really like our chances in is this Saturday and I'm still kinda :ermm:

Great minds think alike :hi:

When did FL State become a factor, i thought the only team that could flip him was Tennessee?

I don't know. Maybe Uzzi will get on here and explain. I just posted this because he personally knows Lawson and has given great info on him on volnation and vq. I thought it was interesting info.

I appreciate the info, i just found it weird that FSU was mentioned. It scares me though if true, FSU has a staff full of ace recruiters, he may not find them as appealing after Sat though, if there was interest.

You are right about FSU recruiters. Even FSU assistant and former AU starting quarterback has thrown us under the bus several times, but I suppose all is fair. Not only do they have extremely fertile recruiting grounds in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, but also do well nationally.

auburn is just to bad to haul in a recruiting class like they have. i dont see all of their players staying commited without $omething going on there.

It's just too good to be true that we'd land someone like Lawson right now. I don't see it.

Thats kinda what's going on in my head, but if you're AU, it has to feel too good to be true holding onto all of these stud recruits, and the only visit Lawson has planned right now is Tennessee, he even said he wasn't taking any visits until after his season was over. 2+2=4 right? It seems to good to be true, but too obvious to ignore.

FWIW I heard Dee Liner is starting to look at Alabama. It'll be funny to see how quickly the people who have been calling him a "head case" praise Saban for taking a chance on a "troubled young man from a difficult background".

I would take Crayton over him any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Stud DL with out of this world strength and a chip on his shoulder to prove to everyone that he is the real deal; tremendous work ethic and great attitude!
