'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

Lawson is a Barner..IMO..It is easier if you just let it go. And this is no meltdown, I have never really thought we was getting him.

I have a feeling this one will end up similar to Vonn Bell. Both have always known where they want to go even though they have flirted with other schools. Vonn to UT and Lawson to AU.

Lawson's comment (or maybe Uzzi's) was how surprised he was by all the concrete in Knoxville and on campus. And elsewhere, I recall Lawson having said (a month or two ago) that he preferred a quieter pace. Knoxville may in fact be too big for him, although I do think we're in the running. Just don't know that we will be by signing day.
I think we can safely say that he will elect not to play in the NFL, but ride a tractor through podunk. Heaven forbid all those big cities and their concrete.

Hey, when it comes to this situation, and the other profile recruits, given the fact that we're currently at the lowest point we've been at in the history of our program, I'm just glad to be mentioned.

I think Butch is going to do a good job with this class. It doesn't look like we're going to get all the high profile recruits that we want, and that's okay.

But if this staff comes out and acquires a winning record in 2013, and shows improvement, the relationships they're building with the next year's class is incredible.

I mean, I think that we will be happy on signing day, and will have a good quality class. I do think we get North and Bell, which nobody should complain about. Hopefully, there will be some other surprises.

Our recruiting class's success hinges upon Lawson, IMO. He is the edge rusher/ defensive difference maker that we have lacked and need. He makes everyone on the defense much better players. DBs can only cover their man for so long. An edge rusher who can pressure the QB, makes their jobs easier.

What about Malik Brown!! Oh wait, NM.

I doubt a lot of people will complain if we get both but north and bell def aren't a sure thing.

That's true. But I do feel like we can have more confidence regarding those two high profile recruits than any others.

I do think we get Bell. North could be UNC. But I do believe we get Bell.

Does Lawson know Dobbs? They are from the same area. If we was able to pull Dobbs, and we already have Jenkins, I wonder if that would help us. Our coaches will not give up on him that is for sure.

Nobody can finish 2nd for a recruit like we can!

It does seem that way doesn't it?

However, if you really stop and think about....

Tennessee is one improved season away from being right back.

The ONLY thing that Tennessee has not had in the past few years is a coach who can prove he can win. Nobody wants to play for someone who just can't get it done on the field. They want to play for a guy who can win, and who they know will find a way to win.

Once Butch proves that he is that guy (and I believe he is), Tennessee will have all the pieces again. We're going to have stability, we're going to have facilities, we're going to have the conference power, we're going to have the fan base. We're going to have a great university in a great location. And hopefully, we're going to have a winning coach and our winning tradition will be re-established again in this decade!
