I think we can safely say that he will elect not to play in the NFL, but ride a tractor through podunk. Heaven forbid all those big cities and their concrete.Lawson's comment (or maybe Uzzi's) was how surprised he was by all the concrete in Knoxville and on campus. And elsewhere, I recall Lawson having said (a month or two ago) that he preferred a quieter pace. Knoxville may in fact be too big for him, although I do think we're in the running. Just don't know that we will be by signing day.
Our recruiting class's success hinges upon Lawson, IMO. He is the edge rusher/ defensive difference maker that we have lacked and need. He makes everyone on the defense much better players. DBs can only cover their man for so long. An edge rusher who can pressure the QB, makes their jobs easier.
Hey, when it comes to this situation, and the other profile recruits, given the fact that we're currently at the lowest point we've been at in the history of our program, I'm just glad to be mentioned.
I think Butch is going to do a good job with this class. It doesn't look like we're going to get all the high profile recruits that we want, and that's okay.
But if this staff comes out and acquires a winning record in 2013, and shows improvement, the relationships they're building with the next year's class is incredible.
I mean, I think that we will be happy on signing day, and will have a good quality class. I do think we get North and Bell, which nobody should complain about. Hopefully, there will be some other surprises.
Nobody can finish 2nd for a recruit like we can!
