'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

Just spoke to my brother in Yulee, who just happens to be best friends with his coach. This ain't over. He is visiting Bama this weekend and they really don't lead for him. He just doesn't trust Bama. He loves Jay Graham but also the RB coach for Georgia. And he also said that its a package deal for some awesome lineman about 80 miles to the west of Yulee, sorry but I forgot his name. However, we are in the MIX! He wants to be the feature back, he wants tons of carries and he likes attention. Show him some love Volnation! Go after that big nasty lineman.

I believe you are talking about Tunsil, the OT that he is good friends with. Henry was recruiting him to UGA, and some people believe UGA leads for him.

Tunsil is actually on visit to Bama now and I'm sure Henry is in his ear about Bama too.

Okay the lineman's name is Laremy Tunsil. (Get after em Sam!) I will be roadtripping from Austin, TX to Knoxville this Thursday to see my mom and to take her to my brother's house in Yulee, FL. I will get a chance to meet Derrick Wednesday night at trivia and will sell our VOLS!!!!!

And I know, pics or it didn't happen :)

We would LOVE to take Derrick and Laremy as a package deal! Both are HUGE needs!

Somebody close to him put it out there.

We feel good about him but so much can happen.

Y'all crack me up. "Some people" and "Somebody close to him said". It's the same ole $h!t from Georgia fans. You always feel good about players and feel the need to come here and tell Tennessee fans... as if we care. But what can you expect from a self proclaimed insider? Keep the laughs coming. :good!:

Right now, GA leads and he would pick richt over saban any day of the week. But, and a big one at that, he likes the vols. and I like our chances.

5 posts in two years. You're definitely legitimate. Thanks for the intel, and do a good job for us this week!

Never had anything nice to say :)

I will say this, somebody from Yulee asked me if I was on volnation and to post exactly what I posted. Sometimes, we do what we are told.

He is visiting UA on the 8th. He said after the visit on the 9th he will know where he is going. That was his last interview. Not sure who the new insider is that knows him but from everything out there from insiders on both UGA and UA boards your new guy seems way off. But who knows.

I am not sure about Henry and UA. He seems to be higher on UA than UA on him. Not saying UA would not take him but if UA is only going to take one more RB it will be Kamara. At camp he apparantly blew the coaches away and they are pushing hard for a commit. The camp reports are comparing Kamara to W Dunn. FWIW

Kamara is going to be a Vol, he's friends with Croom. Didn't you know that?

I will disagree because even according to the latest interviews per Henry not someone in Yulee that may know someone that knows someone, Henry himself stated it was him that contacted UA about the possibility of a spot in the class. It was not UA. Henry said he looked at what UA had done with RBs and the draft the last 2 years and decided he would contact the UA staff to see if there were any openings still and it was Henry that set up the visit this weekend not UA.

So if is interest was so into UGA and not really for UA why did Henry go to all the trouble to contact the UA staff and setup a visit. We had heard for weeks he was trying to set it up. Also why he not visiting UT before he decides like he said he would on the 9th after his visit to UT. His words not mine. He said he would visit and return home and know where he was going. Just saying

Can't blame Henry one bit for looking into Bama seriously. I mean the past NFL drafts pretty much speak for themselves. Kids will talk about academics, the environment, the coaches, the players, etc. Their main priority is getting to the league, but obviously they will not be that upfront about it for the most part.

You hit on something with Kamara. I really like Henry, I think he'll do great at the next level. But, man, the more I see Kamara the more impressed I am. That kid has to be in the Red and Black, even if it means Henry ends up in T-town.

Love to have Henry but Kamara more with Jones. Henry maybe has more upside because of his athletic ability but just think he will out grow the RB position and he is determined only to be a RB, Kamara for sure.

TW, there was a quote (somewhere in this thread) that led me to believe his coaches might have talked him into checking out UA. He never said that directly, but something like: ....after talking with my coaches....

A good for him do heeding his coaches request I that's the case.

Your recent posts made me think of that again.

Henry today per Dawg247 site, not a UA.

Where are you at today (Monday) with your situation? Do you consider yourself still committed to Georgia? “I am still committed to Georgia, but I would say I am still looking around too. There has been a bunch of crazy stuff said by people but I am still committed to Georgia, but I am looking around.”

What is it about Alabama that has got your attention over the last few months? “Just my relationship with Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt and their past history with them has shown that their running backs are going to be successful and have become 1st round draft picks. I also like Coach (Burton) Burns too.”

Do you feel like it will be a while before you make a final decision or is this something you will know after the Alabama visit? “I think I will have a pretty good idea on Sunday after this visit about my decision.”

FWIW from today in an interview. Still could very easily be UGA where he ends up.

I think this is what you were asking about.

“It really didn’t jump off until about three weeks ago,” Henry said. “I started talking to my coach. We had a serious talk. We talked about the positives of Alabama. We feel like Alabama is the place to go.

“It’s not that solid as it was,” Henry said. “I am really open. I am looking at schools in my top group. I want to make sure I make the right decision. I am going up to Alabama, and when I leave I hope to know where I am going to go. The visit to Alabama is all I have planned along with The Opening in Oregon.”

i know that Henry is ranked higher, but who do yall like better Derrick Henry or Derrick Green?

I'd rather have D Green without a question, completely agree w/Skeeter. Also, i have been following D Henry on twitter now for a few weeks, and he can barely spell SIMPLE words. I know that doesn't mean a lot to some people, but if I were a betting man, I'd put my money on this kid not getting through the clearing house. maybe him being an athlete will help, but sometimes I can't even understand what the kid is trying to say. just my humble opinion.
