'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

No offense but I will disagree with this. Not saying that Henry will not pick UT because he may well but it will not have anything to do with playing LB at UA. Unless Henry has lied to the public over and over. When Henry came to UA camp the coaches talked to him about playing HB/TE besides RB. Afterwards he stated his main focus was on RB and has stated over and over that is all UA is recruiting him for. Unless you can find one quote from Henry stating UA is only recruiting him as LB this is completely wrong and there has never been any quote only rival fans saying that to justify why he should not pick UA. Who knows he may end up there but that is not what he believes from the UA staff right now.

Plain and simple, if Henry picks UT it is because he believes he can come in as a true freshman and play while helping take UT to the next level. It has nothing to do with another program not wanting him, having to many RBs already, being afraid of competition, or recruiting him for a different position. If Henry picks UT it is because the UT staff did a great job on recruiting him, he believes in UT, and UA along with everyone else just got beat out for him. No other reason.:hi:

Nice post.

No one knows what Henry is feeling. People need to calm down. This kids favorite thing to do is play the recruiting game. Its a UTvsBama decision. I think thats awesome that players were showing D.Henry love.

I have some awesome news I hope anyway. At the vol walk on Saturday I was just standing there and I seen a undergrad admissions girl ( recruit escort) and nick glass they were just talking about Darick Rogers actually and why he left and then just after the Derrick Henry walked by, and Nick Glass told his dad " there is that big time running back from yulee" and they started to talk about him. I was just kind of ease dropping but guys I'm 100% sure without a doubt in my mind that Nick Glass said that Derrick Henry is coming to UT because " his main other choice is alabama and they said they will only take him as a linebacker, and he said he is strictly a running back" it sounded awfully promising to me. Also I sit in Y9 row 4 and I have a video of them fixing to run out of the T and half the players stopped and talked to Henry and shook his hand. It was so awesome. I'll be happy to email the video to anyone that wants to see it. Just shoot me a message. Justin623069@yahoo.com

Makes sense b/c OCI said that the coaches are confident w/ Henry and it's unknown as to why, so who knows? As the story unfolds...

Would really love to see Henry or Green choose UT. Actually sounds like both are pretty high on us right now. I can't imagine what it would be like on here if we managed to sign both of them.

I watched the FL game, but think I came away with a different outlook than most (by reading football forum...ugh). I really think the one thing we are really missing is the big time back that is NOT afraid to hit the hole. Bad passes happen. Dropped passes happen. When you have to play a passing game only, you live by it and die by it.

Probably doing a little dreaming here.....but could you imagine Henry and Green splitting time in the backfield? People say that's why all these RB's go to Bama, so they don't have to be the only work horse on a team and can save some for the NFL. I say if they are both interested in UT....TAKE THEM BOTH and run the damn ball down everyones throats EVERY PLAY!

i agree!! il be the first one to say that ive always been a huge QB and passing attack fan. ive always loved the air it out mentality probably mainly cause im young and think its a more exciting style of play but im completely done with that. i dont care if were the most boring team in the world, throw the ball 10 times and run the ball 80 times a game as long as we win. i want to see a rb plow people over and destroy the line of scrimmage every play not miss the hole, trip and lose a yard over and over. i want wins not flashy play!! get someone who can pound the rock!!!

Henry and Green together would be program changing commitments. I think our passing game, even when Bray, Hunter, and Patterson move on, is built on a solid foundation with Worley/Peterman and Croom/Howard/Bowles/Meredith/Downs, etc. I also think the offensive line is in decent shape. Getting game changers at RB will provide the necessary balance to make this offense great.

Just think how good our passing game would be if we could also run the ball. Defenses would have to defend against both the run and the pass...........

Does anybody know if they would be willing to play together? I'm pretty sure we're selling each of them on the fact that they are 'the back' in this class. I know I've read that from Derrick Green, and I think I heard something similar from Henry as well.

I'd love to have them both, no question about it. I just can't help thinking that this is a one-or-the-other deal here.

Get these two guys and all of the sudden we're stacked at running back. Neal and Lane have another year under CJG, Alden Hill gets another year to get into college shape, and you have two freshmen who will both compete for PT if not the starting job from day 1. Plus Tom Smith for additional depth and Devrin, Que, and maybe Pig as changeup backs.

Coming off a visit to Bama this weekend will make his decision very hard.... BUT I think he will be a Vol by next week.

I think so too. I also think there's a real chance we land D. Green. Landing both would be something to get really excited about. Striking out on both would be bad. Must get at least 1 of the two. Getting both would be recruiting that hasn't happened at UT in awhile...
