Not at all impressed by his QB stats. Seems odd that we'd take him as a 2nd QB and not Woulard. Guess his injury is just too much of a concern.
No stats, no film to see. I'm assuming he sucks because he's being too well hidden.
J. most of these guys get a dose of reality once they get to practice, then they transition. No doubts the coaches know what theyre doing. If we are taking this kid strictly as a QB I'd much rather pass, if we can't get Dobbs as the 2nd QB then don't take one. Not impressed by this kid at QB, now if he is willing to play WR or CB then yes I'll take him & that 4.3 speed.
If he gets healthy IMO he will make his name known. He may not be a Boyd type guy but the kid is really poss to be a baller when he's healthy. I've seen some of his film and his problem is he is his high school team. Not much you can do about that.
We've almost certainly presented Franklin with the same scenario that FSU did 2 months ago:
While FSU offered as an athlete, Franklin said he will be given an opportunity at quarterback if he ends up in Tallahassee. He could play quarterback, wide receiver, or defensive back in college long-term. "(Head) Coach (Jimbo) Fisher said that he'll give me a full shot at quarterback and we'll go from there, Franklin said. He said that he likes me at quarterback, but he also likes my size and my speed. I'm 6-foot-2, 175-pounds and he thinks I can play wide receiver up there as well."
South Florida athlete John Franklin quickly jumps on FSU offer
Franklin will head to Tallahassee as an athlete, but he'll begin as a quarterback. Franklin had offers from mid-major schools, but most were looking at him as a wide receiver. He said the chance to be under center was crucial in his recruitment. If Franklin doesn't succeed as a quarterback, he'll move to [wide receiver].
