The athletic linebacker prospect is hoping to build on his first offer from Cincinnati and is reporting interest from several other BCS conference programs.

"South Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio State, I just got back from a junior day at Florida, Duke," he explained. "(The Florida visit) was real good. The coaches were talking to me and said they liked me. They're going to look at my film some more and if they like my film they could maybe offer me in the spring."

Rankin is getting looked at under the radar because he is white. There is not a lot of tough white james laurinaitis LBs like him now a days

Jesus. When will these comments cease? I can name about 10 good, white LBs in the NFL off the top of my head easy.

But he is a mix of Ray Lewis and Brian Bosworth, and does not have a big time offer so obviously racism or something else has to be at play here :eek:lol:

Laurinaitis was one of the most overrated college LBs ever. The NC game against LSU he had around 19 tackles and not a one I remember was for a loss. AJ Hawk and Carpenter were good though. Clay Matthews, Cushing, Urlacher, Barrett Rudd, Andy Katzemoyer(kinda old school) were some good college LBs regardless of race. But these are some of the white guys that come to mind when I remember LBs that were good in college/pros. Not the Road Warrior's son. Lol

Greenway, Posluzsny, and Angerer are a few others that are current.

James Laurinaitis was a good college LB and is a pretty good NFL LB. I wouldn't call him overrated at all.

What did he do in the NC game against LSU? Me and my buddies were watching the game and looking like he's an All-American??? That guy there is the All-American, got to be kidding me. He a decent pro though. I like the Dan Morgan types(if he could've stayed healthy). He was an absolute man at LB.

I think Laurinitas was third in the league in tackles by a LB last year. He was pretty good.

I have no problem with him as a pro he's a lot better than he was in college. He had around 19 tackles in the NC game vs LSU. They were around 5 yards down field but he got his "numbers".

He had 18 tackles. He might have not been blowing up the offensive backfield, but when you make 18 tackles you are obviously doing something right. I don't remember particularly watching Lauirinitis that NC game and he could have very well had an off game. I just don't remember. But he was at least making tackles.

He wasn't a bad or "overrated" college LB in my opinion. Now I wouldn't call him amazing or a complete game changer or anything, but he was a solid LB. A 4 year starter and a 3-Time All-BigTen LB at OSU isn't something I'd overlook.

Y'all really should cool it on some of the Rankin hate. I understand otownvol and wpvol are probably family members (or Ryne himself) but either way if we decide he's a take don't think for one second that other teams won't use some of our negative comments as fodder.
