“Everything is amazing up there,” says Rankin, who has been to the Knoxville campus three times, once just passing through, once for a camp with teammate OL Adam Duckett (6-8, 330) and the third time for the Buffalo game as an unofficial guest.

“The facilities are amazing, the atmosphere is great, all the coaches are great. The city is really cool and it’s on the river … like a good ole country town. I can see myself going there and doing well.”

"They know I catch them wild hogs, too. They think that’s a little crazy.”
“We just go out in the woods and hunt the wild hogs. Right here in Orange County, over near Christmas (Fla.),” Rankin said. “We just do it for fun, but then we bring them home and butcher them up. The meat is real good and a lot of times we give the meat to homeless people and stuff like that.”

#8 in the Orlando Sentinal sounds good

Are there any other rankings, evaluations, etc. for this guy?

Will we offer?

Wow that is some impressive film on rivals. Kid plays fast, mean and he's relentless.

“Yeah, 22 tackles, but we lost,” Rankin said

That's all I needed to hear. And the hog hunting ain't to bad either.

Sign him up coach!!! I really like how Dooley is truly trying to find the VFL type. It's not just some made up kimmick, but truly what he believes deep down inside. I believe the parents that really care about their kids being in good hands can truly sense it too. That's huge!

It's a tough road boys, but soon enough we'll be lighting up our cigars. Sic'em Dooley & Co.!!!

“It’s loud (at the UT games) and I like it. It was a very unique experience,” Rankin said of his trip to see the Buffalo game. “They run out the tunnel and then they form the big ‘T’ and everyone is all hyped up. It’s a really cool experience. I wanted to jump down there and run out that tunnel.

“When you go there and watch that stuff it just makes you want to try harder than you already do to get where you want to go. I always try my best no matter what I do, but it makes me want to work harder to go up there and play for them.”

Don’t think coach Derek Dooley and staff isn’t already aware of Rankin’s intentions.

“Yeah, I’ve told them. They were excited. They know it’s early in the process and they still want to keep evaluating me,” Rankin said. “I told them if they offered me, I’d go there no matter what.

His Sophomore film looks A LOT better than his Freshmen film IMO, you can also tell he's added some solid muscle.

JMo, has he been evaluated at one of our camps? I would bet that he hasn't, because if he had they would've offered IMO.

Yes, he was here over the summer w/ one of his teammates. He also went to the Notre Dame camp back in June.

Damn. There goes that theory. I didn't remember for sure. Of course, as these kids grow and mature things can change quickly. I bet he earns an offer at the camp next Summer.

He needs to come back for Junior day, I think he is in the 2nd tier of LB's that the staff is looking at. If they miss on their top targets I could see Rankin getting an offer.

BUT I've came to learn w/ this staff you rarley know who they actually have ranked where.

True. I know Levenberry and some others are probably higher than him on the board, but it's always shocking when #8 on the Super 60 is told to wait on an offer. That, my friend is a good fricking problem to have.....
