'13 FL LB Dominic Zanca (Duke commit)

The kids report those to the sites a kid that is committed could care less about what the respected site says. His list is closer to 12 from all major conferences.

Here's where some people are gonna say we didn't want him,was told to look somewhere else.Whatever.Not starting out too good on the recruiting front IMO.

Yeah... Some people would be HIS FATHER, stating that the staff did not make him a priority. Pretty easy to see

The reasons may be true, no one knows. I wouldn't call this a recruiting loss though, it's not like he was a 4 or 5 star player. Either way he isn't going to be a Vol, so we move on.

Good luck to you and your kid. I wish nothing but the best for y'all. I think a lot of people would have liked to have Zanca on the back of an Orange jersey. He didn't make a bad trade! Your child is going to get a top notch education.

Why do you think he signed with Duke do you really have any idea how many schools in the country spend $ on courting a kid that is already committed to an SEC team that offers early? It tells how much you know about the recruiting process. I watched Zanca and Vereen both play live a few times each.

I can tell you one thing for sure that Duke will be very happy that UT doesn't mind their LBs soft. Because Zanca was never going to hug anybody on a football field not even a cheer leader because he only seems to want to hit. Read into that how you want. It seems Tennesse has voluteered stay out fight and give it's Bad Boy to the Devils.:devilsmoke:

As far as Zanca, I think we may miss out on a good player so I don't know what the hell you are talking about.

I really liked the way z shed blocks and just got people to the ground. Cutcliffe got a steal here.

This is one kid I wish we could have kept. I love how he just attacks every play. He seems to have that killer instinct that we have been missing at LB. Duke got a good one for sure. Good Luck DZ.

Dominic wasn't the LBer I thought that would get asked to look around. THere were others that needed to go. He is going to be a great player for someone. I wished we could keep him.

Maybe Duke got a steal but part of our problem this year was our LBs not being able to cover people in space because they were to slow. Zanca has a 5.07 40 and in the SEC to the new coaching staff that may not be fast enough. They want to bring in the best that they feel will help the team not what DD thought would help the team. Just like last year when CJG came we let a RB go. Let these coaches work some magic and let's see what happens. Good luck at Duke.

Florida 8A division football 1st Team All-State

Well I just want to say if you think Zanca runs a 5.0 in the 40 yd you are reading his Freshman year summer at Under Armor camp. I was wondering the same thing and why would we offer a kid at LB a spot on an SEC team. But then red on and I did my home work like these new clown coaches couldn't take the time to do. His 1st year at MLB only playing in 8 games this year he was a 1st TEAM ALL-STATE :mf_surrender:. So I guest Dooley did find a diamond in the ruff. If you was wondering if Vareen made 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team I hate to say because I like the kid "not even honorable mention." I guest when Coach Jones took a plane to visit Vereen in December to say he still wanted him. He should have took that rent a car down the road to repeat the same thing to Zanca. How much Magic is a Coach going to pull if he is not even smart enough to watch film on a kid that the schools has already spent time and money to land as a commit. For you star watchers, Like most Florida 1st team all-state recruits don't be surprised to see that Jones let go a 5 star or at least a high 4 star guy go when he was bleeding orange. I bet he seen how much a white LB can get over looked because of a 3 year old 40 yd dash time and a Coaching looking at online numbers no matter how much on film he DOMINATED he has no chance with online scouting and reverse discrimination he should go to a school that can give him an education that helps him not need to get in the un loyal situations that football brings with it. I for one have no use for a Coach that is so arrogant that he could care less if the school made a commitment or if the recruit could have missed out on other opportunities because his loyalty to his word, or what may be good for the program in the long run. Jones would rather make the school lose its commitment value to future recruits because he wants to be the guy that finds the diamonds. This is the reason these kids break commitments it all starts with the programs and Tennessee has been so unpredictable why would anyone stay loyal. Look a Jones 20 year college track record, this guy can barely stay in any program for 3 or 4 years. That’s what Tennessee chooses to represent them. The smart dad and moms will never trust there kids with a man of this character. Worst of all to me was the firing of great up and coming scout/recruiter Coach Hinshaw this also breaks ties with a few great years of work in Florida High Schools that fill the top teams in college football all over the country. That was the real loss besides the subtraction by addition. I guess I just like the Florida connection that Hinshaw was building, just because I live here and could have some HS games to visit on Friday nights with Vol commits in the Central Florida area. Selfish or not by me maybe, but Hinshaw was making this his stomping grounds.
