'13 FL LB Dominic Zanca (Duke commit)

:rock:Oh and Zanca's stats were pretty good aswell he had 3 sacks, 2 hurries, 13 or 14 total tackles, 10 solo takles, 6 tackles for loss and 2 miss tackles/due to being overly aggressive. He played against one of the most athletic teams in Central Florida and was a man amoung boys. Google Sanford, Fl Seminole HS and see the talent that come out of that HS year after year.

Ya he's a good pickup. Could steal some minutes next year if he learns things quickly.

This is exciting news. Sounds like Sunseri knows how to pick them. We are going to have an elite linebacker haul this year. My only concern is how quickly do these guys adjust,to the college game. They are going to need to play early, I'm afraid, because we have such a shortage of talent there.

Good stuff scout. I feel better and better with each one of his games and seeing how he performs knowing we have gotten a good prospect.

This kid is an EE and will help next year along with Bynum.

Yeah i agree he sees early playing time. How many offers he got.

We won't know that until at least 4 years. We have no idea how these kids will perform. Sunseri is a great position coach, but we have no idea how he is at evaluating. He always had highly touted guys at Bama. I like Sunseri a lot, but it is premature to say those two things.

So, you don't think Sunseri has had to evaluate talent before?

Have you watched Zanca's Junior Film?

I'm not really even talking about Zanca. Zanca may be a great linebacker or the next propst. I don't know. I'm just saying Sunseri had highly touted players at Bama. I just think its premature to say he is a good talent evaluator when we haven't seen any of his players play a down in college yet.

Ok, I didn't read back far enough probably. You are saying that you don't know really who at Bama was the one actually evaluating the talent and even once they did they could get the majority of the guys at the top of their board. I agree with that.

Yea to an extent. All the great linebackers at Alabama that played under Sunseri were highly touted and wanted by coaches all over the country. Its not like Sunseri found hidden gems and turned them into the next Rolando Mcclain. He could be amazing at it, and I hope he is, but honestly, no vol fan will know until probably his fourth year.

Like everyone else we have senior film on he will be re-evaluated prior to our next round of rankings. I oversee the rankings but Kynon Codrington is the first line of evaluation in Florida. However, if you are looking for my opinion I don't see explosion there in the film. I see power and a physical kid, but he isn't a quick twitch kid or sideline to sideline like four stars need to be. He's a 5.6 three star now and I think that's fair based on review of the highlights but we will obviously eval games as well.

But I don't see any of the big three in Florida being interested, he doesn't appear to have the speed and change of direction quickness they covet.
-Mike Farrell (Rivals.com).

Gotta say,,,I was not overly impressed by his Jr film. The kid just did not stand out. He made some good tackles, arm tackles, great contain, showed good speed off the ball, but just didn't appear to have the slobber factor. OTOH, if Coach Dooley & Co. made an offer, they must see something in the kid. His 40 time is slow but he appeared plenty quick to be around the ball.

I disagree I saw a tough nosed football player in his junior film. He was getting double and triple teamed in every highlight (but they were just highlights).

Sophomore film I saw a True, Raw, Pure football player with instincts and very athletic for a sophomore.

Not sure why he was on the line in his junior film but I thought he was extremely dominant. Curious to see how he plays at middle linebacker or true outside backer off the line.

Speed is always a concern, although he looks like he's got game speed.

Farrell also didn't like Santos. Good thing his size is limiting him from playing in that pass happy conference he currently is in.

Farrell is a tool.

If none of the Florida schools offer him, that tells you where the staff is in their recruiting. They are looking for diamonds in the rough because they are having minimal success in attracting the better recruits. The comment on Propst is uncalled for. Propst is a good LB that is getting the shaft at UT. He is the best LB they have against the passing game and is quick to the ball on the run. Instead they play their show ponies at the position that give up 300 yards a game in rushing and have no clue how to play pass coverage. Propst should have stayed committed to WVU and started on a better team.

Did Mike just admit that he looks to see if certain schools have offered before he will give a bump? So by this, am I to assume if those schools do decide to offer, then all of the sudden he should get the bump?

Seem like that's what he said.
