'13 FL LB Dominic Zanca (Duke commit)

Bynum will get a lot of PT at ILB next year. Getting him, Lewis, and Harris healthy will help our LB corp. Campbell is a guy to watch...he's made our coaches VERY happy that we offered early.

Speed at OLB will not be a concern when he (Campbell) is on the field. Our defensive speed should dramatically improve after a couple Seniors leave this year (Teague/PreWagg). Not bashing those guys.

Well the last post in the thread is pretty awesome, here it is...

Through 4 games Campbell has recorded 41 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sacks and 2 passes broken up.

Along with Zanca and the rest, we are shaping up to have a nice lb class.

Yeah, that is nothing new. Daniel Gray thread prior to jay posting about him was pretty funny.

Yeah they were dogging the kid. Then when I looked at his tape I was wondering where all the hate was from. Funny thing with this kid here is that he looks a lot like Santos who a lot of cats on here said this kid couldn't compare to. But Zanca may be the better player overall and probably hits harder than good ole Dalton.

He plays in the Orlando area at one of th highest classifications in FL...I think I've read on here the competition is very high caliber

Plays 8A in central florida 2 of 4 games are from Apopka (Tom Smith) and Mainland (Marlin Lane) are schools you may have heard of.

Thats good to hear. I like this guy and think he could be a very good inside linebacker. 6' 3" 250lbs is a huge MLB. He closes on the ball pretty fast(good fast twitch as Dooley would say).

His size is what impressed me (no homo) -- he looked every bit of his listed size and for a high school LB, that is huge. He is also quick for his size, and apparently has a very good nose for the ball.

Watched some highlights on this young man and now is my fav. He flys to the football. Looks smaller than his listed weight. Kid can play ball just so quick off the snap when hes playin down on the line. VFL

I don't know. I just don't see what's so great about this guy.

Apparently it's just me.

I agree with you. Just judging from his film, it looks like he overruns quite a few plays. He also likes to dive and tackle kids by their ankles. That stuff won't work in the SEC. He is 250 lbs, he needs to stick his foot in the ground and plant some kids. I saw maybe 3 good hits from the clip that I watched IMO. I'm glad he is an EE because he has some catching up to do.

My 1st post ad glad to be apart of this site. I have to give my 2 cents. I Just watched this kid again and he is a beast and everyone on the field knows it. Just his presents causes offensive coaches to game plan against him. Then I watch 2 different teams abort to stay away from the middle because the lineman could not block him. Both teams lineman just seemed to be scared to fire off at Zanca because he blows them up. This is something you do not appreciate from a high light reel. But as I watched these two HS football it reminded me of how much one bully can intimidate the school yard. Over the last two weeks I watched live it is the 1st time I never seen a running play after the 1st quarter and both QB's threw for 98% of the football game. Zanca is the leader of a fantastic defense that makes its opponent work for every inch. I have to give credit to this defense as a unit and look forward to watching them again. I would be amazed to see another HS game with less than 6 running plays from scrimmage. Zanca will be a first year starter and could be a huge asset for the Vols in stopping the run. The pure natural nastiness this kid brings make him a pleasure to watch live. I will attend more games in the future besides them being a local HS to my home but Lake Brantley has a few kids that may not have been discovered yet. I look forward to report more. This is the 1st time I have ever posted on a forum but after reading some of these posts, I felt I had to post an observation from up close. Oh and just to clear up this kid is every bit of 255-260 with legs that are like tree trunks. To be honest I don't think anyone should hope Zanca grows unless the want him to move to DE. But he is a middle LB if I ever seen one, blockers are not a concern for Zanca. The only concern maybe that he could be considered too aggress at point off attack. But everyone he hits decides to tippy toe around him the next play. Great steal Sal but you may need to tame a beast during spring ball.
