'13 FL ATH Lemond Johnson (UT Commit 12/16/12)

Is it correct that I read somewhere he's just a 3* ranked 30th at safety?

So are most of the players in the NFL today. Using Rivals rankings, as an example, in 2011, there were eleven 3 Stars: Marcell Dareus; Aldon Smith; Christian Ponder; Nick Fairley; Ryan Kerrigan; Nate Solder; Prince Amukamara; Cameron Jordan; Jimmy Smith; Gabe Carimi; Muhammad Wilkerson.

Using Rivals' ratings, five-star players make up a little more than one percent of all Division I-A signees every year, and four-star players less than 12 percent; a full 87 percent of incoming players are rated three stars or lower.

Don't get me wrong I hope he turns out to be a stud.Just seem's like all the good teams sign mostly 4&5* players.I know some 3* players end up being underrated,I hope he's 1 of them.

Go look up the rankings from the last few years. Bama, UF, Texas, top 10 teams in the rankings, those teams have 8-12 or more 3 stars in every class. Even the elite classes have many 3 stars.

Jist of AU Rivals War Room report on Johnson -

Rumors flew about Johnson flipping his commitment, but Johnson's father confirms that hasn't happened. Johnson's father confirmed that Auburn informed Lemond that he won't be able to enroll early. This obviously threw Lemond and his father off track, as their plan was to enroll early at Auburn since the day he committed. No confirmation for the reasoning on Auburn's end.

That is why Johnson took the trip to Tennessee, where his two former coaches are now employed. If Tennessee allows Johnson to enroll early, which it appears they will, the chances he signs with Tennessee are greater than the chances he signs with Auburn at this point.

Don’t take donkeys to the Kentucky Derby--Pat Summitt,

That said, there are many 3 star players that turn out to be great.

That's true man. There are definatly some 3* players that are underrated.Just intrested to see how this class shakes out.I understand Jones has the deck stacked against him because of time left until NSD,but you wanna play with the Big Boys you gotta get the players.FWIW I hope he does!

According to AU Rivals, Johnson has left his Tennessee visit and is on the way back home. Johnson faces a decision: enroll early at Tennessee or wait and enroll at Auburn in June. AU did tell Lemond he couldn't enroll early. The guess is they want those spots for JUCO players, but no definitive reason was given to Johnson.

Prediction is that he will choose to enroll early at UT since that's what he has been working towards for months.

Nice. :good!:

Thanks for the info. :hi:

"Johnson, who's currently committed to Auburn, said the visit went well, and he now plans to spend the next couple of days talking with his family and deciding between Tennessee and Auburn. He said he spent time this weekend with new UT coach Butch Jones, safeties coach Willie Martinez and defensive coordinator John Jancek, and Jones made a very good first impression on him. The Vols' coaches told him he could have an opportunity to come in and earn early playing time as mainly a safety and nickelback."

From VQ today from article on visit...
"Well, there's a couple of other schools but I've got to make my decision quick because I want to enroll early," Johnson said. "I have to talk to my family about but I'll probably be making my decision very soon because I'm trying to get in school early."
