Vols making play for juco DT that could transfer in this fall.

Quote:
Fulton (Miss.) Itawamba C.C. defensive lineman Fadol Brown informed me via text that Tennessee has offered. Brown has been granted his release from ICC and will transfer to a likely SEC school. He is 6-5, 275-pounds and played his freshman season at FIU logging 10 tackles and 2 sacks in limited action.

Sticky situation. He was at FIU as a freshman and stayed through spring ball. From there went to JUCO and was planning to play this season and transfer in December. However, he wasn't given a release from the new staff at FIU, so he was under his LOI still. Now they granted him a release. He is planning to commit somewhere in the next two weeks. When I spoke to him yesterday he said he will likely redshirt and then have three years left to play.

Let me know if that clears the air. His JUCO coaches have raved about his size and potential. Apparently all the schools in the SEC are on him and are trying to get him on campus.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, he is trying to enroll in the next few weeks for the class of 2013. But if he does not then he will be a December graduate for the class of 2014. Would be a very fortunate pick up the Vols if we got him.

If he's a transfer he doesn't count against the 25/30/?? Just against the 85 cap like Pittman, right?

So is he an end or a tackle? I know, I know. Just wait till we get him on campus, in the strength program, feed the boy some protein, etc...

I hope bama can't enroll him. His former coach Cristbal is there. I think if we get him he'll end up at DT. We are doing alright at DE right now.

Transfers do not count against "25" rule. Only against 85 scholarship limit.

This is wrong. Transfers, including Pittman and Brown count against the 25. They are initial counters because they have never received financial aid at this University. Would drop our number by 2 if we took both (which I think we would).
