Never had a commitable offer and was told he could earn one at camp. FWIW he is still camping at UA in June and will also still camp at USC who also needed him to come to camp to earn an offer.

White is interesting. UA did not offer before he came to camp so he took it as a slight and commited to FSU. He grew up as a UA fan with his family. He has stated that he is still looking at UA and maybe others I do not know. He visited UA in the summer and many reports were out there he wanted to flip. But the word the staff has him lower on the board. He now says he will wait until Dec to make a final decision. He has been I believe to 2 or 3 of UAs home games including Ole Miss.

Glad the staff finally took an introspective look at our secondary and realized we need to add athletes to the mix. I say take as many quality athletes with size & speed & that are not afraid of contact in the secondary as you can and sort them out after they get to campus.

They've been trying to fix this the last couple years. Why do you think we went after Gray, Bonner, and McNeill? The light didn't just go on for the staff. Also, just because players are not mentioned on VN does not mean the staff is not recruiting certain kids.

This has been a problem not only for this years staff or last years staff but an ongoing one for several years. In fact, I contend that we haven't had athletes back there since Eric Berry's freshman year.

My point was that we sorely need people back there to revamp the secondary just as we needed people to revamp the offensive line.

You can't honestly think that someone is naive enough to think that only the prospects mentioned on VN are those being targeted. Sorry if you took offense to the comments.

Yes sir the athletes on the corner have been lacking for years now. Our last pretty good secondary was Berry's 2nd year.

CBs: Willingham, Rogan, Vinson

Safeties: Berry and Morley

That was the last secondary I liked to watch play here.

Coleman, Gray, Bonner, and McNeil are a good start as far as athletes go.

Randolph is a good football player.

Miles, JRM, McNeil, and Bell will be a good foursome of safeties(even though Bell looks like a CB).

Our best CBs are young but we need to play them now.

Florida did it last year and now they're one of the best secondaries in the country.

"Basketball is Marquez's first love," first-year Northview football coach Labrian Stewart said. "I think he kind of looks at football as his girlfriend and feels a bit like he's cheating on his true love.

"We want him to do what makes him happy, of course, but I've told him that he could be a 6-foot-1 point guard in basketball or a 6-foot-1 cornerback in football. There are a lot of 6-1 point guards. There aren't that many 6-1 cornerbacks."

"What also helps is that Marquez can play. I'm not sure if we ever had a 6-1 corner when I was at Prattville. He is a long, rangy kid who has real good speed and great leaping ability. He is the prototype cornerback most colleges are looking to recruit."

He also is firmly entrenched on al.com' A-List of the top 15 college recruits in the state for 2013. White ranks No. 14, one spot ahead of his buddy, Kamryn Melton, who also plays cornerback at city rival Dothan High.

Basketball and football aren't White's only talents.
He plays piano in church every Sunday and some drums, too. He can't read music, so he plays by ear.
"It's just a God-given talent," he said. "I had a few lessons when I was a kid -- like two days a week for about a month. After that, I started playing on my own. I can hear something on the radio and then, after practicing a few times, play it.
"I've just been blessed in so many ways."

"He's (Ansley) told me how the environment is, how the fans are, about the stadium and the facilities and all of that stuff," White said.

"I know there was a player that went to Tennessee from my school in the 1980s and Tennessee has a lot of history. I think of Arian Foster. When I hear Tennessee he's who comes to my mind," White said.

"They said they don't want to offer until I come up and see the school and stuff. They said they want to do it face-to-face and I haven't been up there yet so I'll most likely get it when I go," White said.

Besides FSU and Tennessee, White said Alabama and Indiana where still regularly recruiting him and he will make all five official visits before he signs he says,
"I'm going to take all of my officials I just don't know where," White offered.

Regarding UT from an interview last night.

“They have always been on me,” White said. “I never really showed interest, but now I’m starting to show interest. I want to see more about the program.”
