'13 CA TE Woody Quinn (UT signee)

I got a better idea. How about you try harder at being comical, and I'll try harder at being a mindless sunshine pumping lemming that agrees with everything that everyone says.

As far as the other nonsense, I wasn't aware that every poster was required to be a former coach on here to share their opinion on a player. So what's your credentials? Other than Xbox live.

I have absolutely zero credentials that qualify me for judging this or any other recruit.

...and I don't. You do, that's the difference.

I follow the process but I've never said someone won't pan out or someone is a sure star. There are too many busts and too many kids that exceed their star value. Definitely a correspondence, mind you, but hardly a sure thing.

Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the Mighty Quinn

I prefer Mr. Dylan's version myself.

I'm not looking at the stars as much as I'm looking at the whole presentation.

-Limited football experience
-2 years to make an impact
-Converting from a sport that doesn't involve a lot if any physical contact

The guy is a 2 year project that would take a scholly away from a potential 2014 kid. It just seems we already have our fair share of projects and we are trying to compete in the toughest division in CFB with these guys. This isn't CMU or the Big East. This is the big leagues were you need big league talent to succeed. I'm sure Quinn is a good kid who could do well somewhere, but kids like this aren't what's going to get us back to the front of the pack.
It does not take 2 years to teach TE to a guy where this guy is... unless they're complete idiots which he does not seem to be.

It appears the staff thinks they've got a steal with him. I hope they are right but am waiting for them to prove their recruiting mettle.

That said, I seriously doubt any of you throwing stones at this recruit have enough information to make the concrete conclusions you are making.

Here are the top 10 TE's taken in the '12 draft and their "stars/score" from Rivals:

Cody Fleener 5.5/3*
Dwayne Allen 5.8/4*
Orsen Charles 6.0/4*
Michael Egnew 5.3/2*
Ladarius Green 5.2/2*
James Hanna 5.8/4*
Taylor Thompson 5.5/3*
David Paulson 5.5/3*
Evan Rodriguez 5.7/3*
Adrien Robinson 5.5/3*

The avg top 10 pick from last year's draft was rated a 5.6 3*. Not all of these guys were in the 2008 class. Some were RS'd (none of the 4*). Charles and Allen came out early. Of the 16 08 recruits that received 4/5* from Rivals, I see only 2 in the top ten of the '11 draft in addition to the two in the '12 draft.

Point is... stars never mean everything but they seem to mean even less when it comes to TE's. Even offer lists and schools chosen do not seem to be very good predictors.

Not saying he will be them, but 3 of the 5 best TEs in the NFL played bball not football. Gates, Gonzalez, and Graham.

If you seriously think a 2* kid that's a volleyball player deserves one of our scholarships from us or any other school in the SEC needs to put down the Fireball whiskey!

You really think you have more of a grasp on whether this guy can help UT at TE than a coach that has put a couple of lowly rated TE's in the NFL over the past couple of years?

Making the definitive "will fail" statements you are making only makes you look foolish and arrogant. If you want to do that to your credibility then I guess you can have at it... just thought you might want to know how you look from someone who hasn't been arguing with you.

"You haven't been arguing with me" until now. From the outside looking in this kid looks like a mistake.

Welcome young man!! You have a lot of people to prove wrong and no one will be pulling any harder for you than me!! Work your ass off representing the orange shirt!!!

Lord Jesus I hope he turns out to be great. I just have a hard time believing it. But what do I know. I'm just a fan.

Not the blue-chipper we are all wanting, but a nice pickup! Hopefully, this starts the commitment fury!
