'13 CA TE Chauntez Jackson (decommitted from UT, committed to Houston)

Yes, but TE is being handled and they are about to get DE done.

With their guys, not Dooley’s.

And with people who will actually qualify.

Oh, really? Our TEs at this point are average. Who are these DEs we have lined up? Name one outside of Jaylen Miller. We need more than him.

Qualifying was the key with Jackson. I think this staff wanted him.

Here’s what happened when Jackson came off the board. It opened up one spot for a scholarship so that there were two openings on the defensive line. Now that Sanders looks like a JUCO guy, that means this is who could be vying for those 3 open places:

DT - Keith Bryant, Maurice Swain, mystery player
DE - Davin Bellamy, Carl Lawson, Jaylen Miller, mystery player

I threw the mystery players in there because we have absolutely no idea who the staff has been recruiting for years that is happily committed elsewhere who will open their recruitment up at the last minute.

But if you want certainties that players will pan out or that ratings are always valid, all the time, go play XBox. You know this. Yeah, they wanted Jackson, but they didn’t get him for whatever reason, so they change their board accordingly.

All I'm saying is that losing Jackson hurts, IMO. He's versatile and extremely athletic (something our team desperately lacks). I don't mind losing Joe Sanders.

But, I also don't agree with the people you listed for multiple reasons, especially Bellamy and Bryant.

If he left for Houston on his own volition and not because UT suggested, then recruiting is in big freakin trouble.

I agree. If we are depending on Bellamy, Bryant, and a "Mystery Player" to fill our needs we are in serious trouble. It wouldn't totally surprise me to see Carr flip last minute either. I get the JC Copeland feel every time I enter the Jason Carr thread. Ironically, he's our highest rated recruit. Go figure.
