'13 AL RB Johnathan Ford (no longer a Vandy commit)

I think i can help here. He is saying that with Wilkins' commitment to OM, Barber is flipping to AU. With that shakeup, Ford to UT. He also considers him to be fashion forward in orange.

Much appreciated. Some speculation that Lawson wants to go where Barber goes... does that hurt us with Lawson?

Sorry about not a clear explanation on my post. To anwser your question about Barber and Lawson. The anwser is no that does not hurt us with Lawson. They have expressed interest in playing together but they have said that they are more than ok at playing at different schools

explain what is the perfect running style for Jones offense?
bc what you described after that sentence basically describes Every very good Running back

I stayed general in my post. Specifically - he is one cut and go instinctively with less lateral moves. When he makes moves he naturally does them moving forward with good body lean as compared to dancing a lot. The fit for the offense if you review Jones' schemes, which I have, is that the zone blocking schemes Jones utilizes have a lot of quick traps and counter style blocking that emphasizes angles. The back needs to be quick from the hand off, read the block at the assigned gap and go. As an example Neal could be great in this offense if he stops trying to go outside. He is a quick, one cut and go guy that has improved his ball security.

Other zone and power blocking schemes are slower developing, like Pittman's zone scheme. The back needs to be stronger to break arm tackles, more patient, or have the lateral moves to break the run.

Ford has very good hands for ball security and pass catching. His first step elusiveness will be good in the open field on passes. He has the extra gear for top end speed as well. Some of the others - Kemp, Barber, etc. - not so much. Kamara has it, but is more of a blend of a slot and RB.

Finally, he does not shy from contact. That is needed for Jones' offense as it is primarily between the tackles running and has occasional blocking responsibilities on passes to pick up blitzers. Some of this is obviously not unique to Jones' offense. However, the package of it and the strong emphasis (55-60% of all plays) on the run game is. Kamara could not hold up to that many carries and running inside IMO. Kemp, Barber, etc. probably could hold up, but don't have the quickness and instinctive elusiveness of Ford IMO. So their ypc would be less.

exactly how my face looked reading this forum. it's all a conspiracy.

3 silent commits on monday. 2 being levenberry and VBell.
1 was so hush hush not even volnation knows about it.

but we know that probably wasn't lawson because since Bell has given his silent commit on Monday he has been recruiting Lawson himself.

so who is the third silent? FORD? maybe its hush hush because he hasn't told his dad yet?

thanks volnation, you are entertaining.

Your so cool. How has VN survived this long without your insight and intellect? I for one will be keeping an eye open for future posts.

I love a good ridicule, but we are all fans of the Vols. lets dog out the trolls, and lay off the fans on here that support the Vols. screw eating your own.

Could this be stickied somewhere in big, bold letters?

Great post, EG. Treat your family with respect regardless of viewpoint, they are the ones that have your back.

Part of it had to do with my confusion as to whose thread I was in... every year around NSD I start combing over recruits' threads turbo style. Sometimes I confuse myself.

Thanks for the clarification on Barber/Lawson.

I'm thinking you can pretty count on RB Peyton Barber as an #Auburn commit

No backup plan? Speaking about Auburn?

I hope so. I posted this yesterday about Ford.

Ford is probably the last hope for UT to land a RB who could contribute next year. I hope he is holding a grudge against Auburn for not offering until very late in the game, that is really the only shot UT has to beat AU in this case.
