"When Chizik got fired, my love was still at Auburn, but I was keeping an eye out," Toney said. "But now, I'm dedicated to the school and the program. When Malzahn was hired, he visited me so early that made an impression, it was meaningful. That sparked me."

Tennessee continues to battle for a trip to Knoxville from Huntsville, Ala., linebacker Cameron Toney, who had been a Vols target prior to his commitment in the spring to Auburn. However, Toney's relationships with both Thigpen and Willie Martinez have kept UT at least in conversation to get Toney to give Knoxville another look.
