'13 AL LB Cameron Toney

Interesting. What makes you say that?

Like I Said Sal never pushed to get Toney to UA while on our staff. Toney was said to have really liked UA in the beginning but the staff showed little interest, mainly Sal our LB coach. I doubt Sal would have done a 180 once at UT. The same to be said for Santos. Santos had early interst in UA, but the word was Sal told the staff he was not a good fit. Santos seem to be all UT until Sal came onboard and he never made a strong final push for Santos.

We can always question why the staff goes after one recruit vs another, but with Sal I do believe he knows what is best regarding LBs and our current LB group is proof of that.

I also think Toney saw UT as a place he could be an imediate impact and do not think at any point AU was ever his first choice. Not saying he will not flourish there, but very few players like both UA and AU that are from AL. Usually one or the other and in the beginning he really liked UA.

That may be true.

But our LB situation isn't like Alabama's. We need good players.

I just do not see Toney the impact player UT needs, but that is my opinion nothing more. And with that I think this early in the game UT has to focus on the big recruits.

Yeah this is my concern.

I like Vereen. And hope we can pull Yannick ( but that's not a lock either) but who besides that at ILB or Sam are we on heavily ? That Neal kid maybe? But he doesnt know a lot about us right now. I know we are after a few different Jacks.

I know it's early. But I'm an anxious person. Ha

I can see your point to a point. But that's also kinda why I'm worried now. Don't wanna have to end up just taking anybody in the end. We need good LBs and Toney seemed like a pretty good one. But maybe not?

I agree, he seemed like a good linebacker to me. I don't know what Sal thought or how things exactly went down here. I also agree with your point about not wanting to take just anybody at the end. Just could see the staff taking an all in type approach with this season, we win and the recruits come building momentum for the 14 recruiting class or we don't win and then that's that.

Well IF we can get Vereen Yannick hatcher Herron and one more LB In this class, maybe we would have enough pieces to move around between the 4 LB spots. Seems like Vereen might could play inside maybe?

I would like to see UT take 6 LBs this year.
