How, in any way, would he fit the description of flavor of the month?

That question won't really be answered until he takes over a college program and sinks or swims. I don't know if he's the "flavor of the month," but he is certainly the "hot coach" of the end of the season.

I see a "Kiffin +1 combo" that will re-energize the fan base...

Or Kelly, and he'd better deliver early...

Or Cowher, and a dynamite OC and DC...

I'm okay with all three. But if I were allowed to dream...

Cowher, Kiffin, and Steele. Good grief, half of the SEC coaches would start working on their resumes.

And rightfully so.

Go Vols.

Florida controls the heck out of the football. They win by running the football.

I don't know who the Big 2 is.

Of the 10 games this year, Florida won TOP in only 4 of them. The only teams that Florida beat in T.O.P were Ole Miss, Ark, LSU, and USC. Tennessee even had the ball longer than Florida, and we know how that game ended. TOP doesn't always equal WIN.

You can't use Florida's success to make a Leach hire seem better. Meyer is one of the top 5 coaches in college football.

I'm not on the "Leach for coach" bandwagon myself, "but" had we had him as HC, his quarterback and his receiver "Crabtree" (both of which will be top 10 NFL drafts) then we don't loose to UCLA, Auburn or Wyoming maybe not even to S.C. and we probably end up beating Vandy and Kentucky..............

And where did Meyer come from? Yea, he was a proven coach in the SEC, no Big 12, no Big 10, wait, no was it BCS powerhouse UTAH. He was given a chance by Florida and as I remember, everyone thought the Florida AD was crazy for hiring him. Now look!! Sometimes you got to take a chance.

He turned around Utah and Bowling Green completely in 2 years each. Leach might possibly make a BCS bowl in his 9th year at TTU after 8 years of mediocrity. Don't embarrass yourself or degrade Meyer by comparing the two.

Big chance with their recruiting base. They would have to be brain dead to fall into the bottom of the SEC in todays world. 7-5 is as low as they could ever go and they would still be loaded in talent. We are not in a FL situation.

My point exactly. Neither is TT. They are whipping everybodies a**es with 3 star players and with half the talent of a Texas or an Oklahoma. Meyer is winning with a Florida team that was rich in talent before his arrival. Look at Spurrier, when he left Florida and went into the twightlight zone of recruiting at USC, his wins drastically declined.

Meyer was a proven winner at every program he headed up. He proved he could build a program in just 2 years. Shockingly, he continued that trend at Florida. Leach has been proven a mediocre coach with fun stats. Leach in the SEC would continue to be a 3-loss at best coach.

If you want an example to talent just look at the 5-Star idiot starting for Tennesse against Vandy. Should make you want some solid 2 Stars who want to play Tennessee football.

Leach is not Meyer, not even close. Do yourself a favor and chart the path of Urban Meyer and Leach then ask yourself are the 2 remotely close to being the same type of coach. In case you missed it please read the following post.
Looking at Leach from a non bandwagon perspective.
If he is the hottest thing since sliced bread, why has he been at TT for 9 years? perhaps he was on the witness protection program for overrated coaches?
If he is such an excellent coach why hasn't he produced more NFL players? try 7 in his 9th year.
I would think if he was such a great coach he would not have to settle for the "scrap recruits" Highly touted recruits go to schools and coaches that place players in the NFL, he sucks at this therefore he gets the scraps.
I do not recall any school going after him last year, oops he wasn't the "flavor of the month" or had not been immortalized into this elite status yet, my bad I did not get the memo.
Some people think if he came the big recruits would follow, that way of thinking turns our program into Northwestern or Syracuse. I cannot emphasize enough the fact that 5 star recruits goes to schools where the school AND the coach place players in the NFL. Leach cannot do it therefore we fall further behind.

How is that statement logic? I tell you what I will take my 5 stars who want to play and wear you out with your 2 star who want to play.

Crompton has been a UT fan his entire life. Being a 2 star doesn't make you any smarter. Give me a freaking break.
