I love McNeil as a safety prospect. First off, he is almost the size of a linebacker but I'm not worried about him filling out too much to play safety. He hits like a linebacker, though, and he plays the run very well. He is definitely a downhill guy.
He plays at a relatively small school that does not play many passing teams so, to be honest, I had some real doubts about him in coverage. He looked very good at the Fort Worth NIKE Camp, though. He did a great job backpedaling and opening up his hips to run with the receivers. He looked better than a lot of corners there. After the camp we were impressed enough to extend him an invite to the Army game on the spot and he accepted.
He does need to learn a lot of the nuances of the game because, like I said, he plays at a relatively small school and can just use his athleticism to make plays. He is good at stopping the run when he meets the back but he takes poor angles at times. That won't work in the SEC. I don't think it is a big concern at all, though.
