'12 TX QB Preston Dewey

STRENGTHS: Was the most accurate passer on the day. He demonstrated a very consistent throwing motion which allowed him to deliver strike after strike. Dewey threw the ball with good spin making his passes very catchable.

WEAKNESSES: Still could add some more muscle mass and strength while improving arm strength just a tad.

CONCLUSION: He has come a long way over the past two years turning himself into one of the top quarterbacks in the state of Texas. Look for his offer list to continue to grow. Dewey was the top target striker on the day earning the Golden Gun Award.

Hmmmm...isn't there another QB we're all very familiar with that won this same award just 2 years ago? :)

Bray won his awards at the big Elite 11 event though. the one where the top 11 QBs in the country attend sometime in the summer.

this kid does sound impressive however.

Is that the same as the elite 11 that they just had this past weekend in Ohio, or is there more than one?

like Sab said, they have a ton of them.

but they have the big one near the end of July where they invite the top QBs in the country to compete at. this is where Bray showed out and won the Golden Gun Award.

Bray was literally competing against the best QBs in the country. here was his competition at this event: Devin Gardner, Jake Heaps, Robert Bolden, Phillip Sims , Jesse Scroggins , Blake Bell , Austin Hinder, Chandler Whitmer, Nick Montana, Barry Brunetti, and Joe Boisture.

i dunno if you remember much about the '10 class but of the 12 at the event, it had the top 6 PS-QBs in the country and the top 3 DT-QBs.

Looks like Heath Shuler with more polish to me. That worked out pretty good. CJC is probably thinking a taller Brees. That worked out even better.

It doesn't get much better than 2nd in the Heisman voting when it comes to college ball.

This kid does kind of remind me of Bray in HS a little bit. The more I read and watch, the more he's impressing me.

Chaney sure does go after elite QB's man.

Dewey does like the Vols a good bit and apparently Chaney and Ty Detmer know each other, but you have to wonder if Tennessee can make enough of a push in a short period to land Dewey, who plans on committing in 3 weeks or so.

I'm guessing Dewey will be a 3*, maybe a 4* after the summer and a good season next year. His tape looks very good. Offense his HS runs looks very similar to stuff we do. Would be a nice fit.

Austin (TX) St. Andrew's Episcopal School QB Preston Dewey is down to his "final three or four" schools according to his father, Mike.

"Miami is definitely in that group," Mike Dewey said, declining to name the other schools in the final mix.
The bottom line when it comes to Dewey and the Canes?

"Miami really likes Preston, and he really likes them," Mike Dewey said.

Preston told CaneSport on Sunday that he would like to have a decision this week or next...

He was talking to the Cane site and was being asked Cane related questions, I'm sure.

Q: Where does Miami's stand with Preston?

A: Miami really likes Preston, and he really likes them.

Nothing to lead anyone to believe he will be a cane IMO.

For those of you that have seen the film on Cyer Miles, how far is the talent gap between Miles and Dewey? These seem to be the ones we have the most realistic shot at landing.

Is he visiting TN again anytime soon?
