Well, if the reports that we are hearing are true, yes. But It would more than suffice to hear otherwise from you.

I don't know what you are hearing but this has been a Texas house his whole life. Texas didn't offer which is why Dalton was going to go to OK St. Then Tennessee came calling and he knew that Tennessee was the better choice. Tennessee>>>>Ok St. But when Texas came with an offer......well lets to say he's been waiting his whole life for that offer.

Let me say that if my son was committed to Texas and Tennessee the school I always loved came calling one week before signing day, I would feel extremely slighted. I would probably listen to everything they had to say, but for them to knowingly know how much I want to be there then offer me that late I would feel very disrespected. Idk if I could turn it down though. Dalton would fit so well in our 3-4 though. Probably start his sophomore year. I have no clue what he'd do at Texas, but I feel like he fits our system perfectly, and he is obviously loved here already.

Before we go any farther...can we please get some verification that you are actually Dalton's dad?

It may have been said before but I haven't seen it in this thread (although I admit I have not read every post). Let me start with this, I really hope DS is a part of this class. But put yourself in his shoes. Imagine growing up in Tennessee and being a lifelong Vol fan along with your entire family. Imagine being a 4-star MLB who is being recruited by several major schools, committing to a school, and then the school you committed to loses their DC and your main recruiter a month before NSD. Then imagine it takes 2 full weeks to learn who your new DC and position coach would be after rampant speculation (not a knock on Dooley because he had to take the time toget it right) and lastly imagine your beloved Vols swoop in and make you an offer 2 weeks before NSD.

I can honestly say that at 17 or 18 I am ALL VOL the moment the offer comes down and I don't give a second thought to the late offer.

So, in this situation, it is hard for me to blame the dad, the family, or DS. He is a life long horn fan and has to be on top of the world with the tx offer. At the same time, he has to be disappointed with wilcox and Simon leaving so abruptly. Yet, he has not publicly decommitted from Tennessee, and I think that really shows something about the impression our new staff has made on him or he'd be el gono already. It also shows a lot of maturity on DS's part to take his time and make sure Texas and/or Tennessee is where he wants to start the next phase of his life.

In the end, DS probably ends up at TX but, IMHO, this kid should be getting praised about how someone at his age makes this very important decision because, if he does end up at Tennessee, the staff, fans, and his family will know this is was a well thought out and pain staking decision and he will know that he did everything he had to do to make the right decision. Equaling no regrets and VFL!

Just my too scents. Bash away.

I can't resist...

We've heard that the Santos family has always been Texas fans, and that is understandable. If after an official visit, Dalton decides that is what is going to be best for him, then more power to him, good luck. We obviously are biased, as any Texas fan would be biased towards Texas. I would encourage Dalton to evaluate the two options and to choose what is best. There is no easy decision.

Having met Daltons dad in person, everything that this poster is saying sounds like him. Either that or someone knows their stuff very well.

then why not tell the coaches when they visited and decommit?

be better for both parties if he would decide that so we can fill the remaining spots and we aren't left scrambling.

I can understand that if that's Dalton decision. He needs to do what Is right for him.

To answer your question, just been reported on here that Dalton's parents, especially his dad, we're pushing him hard to Texas.

Lots of kids go to other schools even when the school they loved growing up extended an offer. Just wasnt the right situation for them.

Do you think Texas provides the best opportunity, or do you like it for Dalton the best because it's what you're fans of?
