Are you blaming our coaches for this?

I'm not blaming them. I'm saying that if Santos gets whisked away by a last-second offer then I have severely over-rated the staff's recruiting prowess.

For the record: I think the staff is pretty awesome. That's why I'm fairly certain they wouldn't have wasted more than an hour trying to keep this guy if they knew Texas would step in and take him with ease.

It is my opinion that Dalton is gonna be a Vol because he wants to be a Vol. I don't think Mack Brown is gonna wave his magic recruiting wand and get this one. And I think he's gonna be a Vol because the staff only told him the truth, sold him on Tennessee throughout the process, and they wanted him regardless of what recruiting service says what.

Apparently, it's about what Dad wants, not want Dalton wants, which is not how it should be..His dad seems like a very controlling person and some kids can develop resentment towards their parents for being like that...I'm not a parent, but if i were, I would let my child decide where he wants to play college football and support him on it...even if I didn't like his choice.

I'm sorry if this is already been posted, but I just ran across this article:

Dorial Green-Beckham stakes rising for Horns, Sooners, other hopefuls

It starts off talking about Dorial-Green but then extensively about Dalton Santos, saying its a done deal, by this time next week he will be commited to Texas. It says Texas is his dream school. Yada, Yada, Yada....just thought it was an interesting read. I'd like to hear what you all think.

If he ends up going to Texas (I hope he doesn't), that will not be the coaches fault. They have made Santos a top priority before and after his commitment. I think you're underestimating the power of the "dream school".

Surely Dalton is asking himself, his Dad and them why he wasn't in their plans before last week. So do I go someplace where I am down the list of importance, or go where I am clearly an important piece. SEC or Big 12?

Everybody gets punked at times. That's nothing on this staff if it happens. Hope it doesn't, but won't be losing any sleep over it.

Everybody acts like it won't be a big deal if we lose this guy, but the truth is, every year we miss out on a few recruits like Santos, and it's the accumulation of these missed recruits that has made Tennessee a middle of the pack SEC team in my opinion. If we don't get him, I won't blame the coaches, because they have thrown everything at him but the kitchen sink. It's gonna suck if we lose him.

Agree..now let's take a briefcase load of $$$$$..:naughty:

Just kidding, of course.

I agree, there's that. I just don't think Texas was his dream school. Wasn't that Texas A&M?

Regardless, I'm not doubting Dooley and company at all. I just think they'd be hedging somewhat with another true MLB prospect if they didn't think Dalton was 100 99.9% solid.

No, it was texas. I don't feel like looking back through this thread, but there was an early article on him where he said if texas offered he would commit on the spot.

During the regular season & the post season, the Big 12 was the 2nd best conference. In fact, for much of the regular season, the computers had the Big 12 as the best conference. Am I saying the elite of the Big 12 is better this past season than the elite of the SEC? Of course not.

Also, with WVU and TCU coming in for A&M and Mizzou, the Big 12 has become more difficult while the SEC has become easier. A&M and Mizzou are great additions for the SEC relative to eyeballs watching TVs and better TV contracts but purely in football terms, the Big 12 came out of realignment much better.

This whole conference issue is what has confused the aggies relative to recruiting. They think recruits will be more excited about them because they are in the SEC. Conference affiliation means more to them, and probably to you guys, than it does to Texas. Kids from the lonestar state grow up wanting to be a Longhorn and it has nothing to do with conference affiliation. They feel that being a Longhorn is special.

You are right you are arrogant. And an idiot

To me Dalton seems to be a grown man...if he doesn't think Texas is the best fit for him, then I don't think he will let his dad make his decision for him. He will choose to go where he wants...just like he did on his OVs. Mom wanted him at A&M; Dad wanted him to visit OSU; Dalton did neither. He will entertain Brown and what Texas has to say, but in the end, as I have been saying all along, he will remember who has been by his side and who fits his style of play. And that is the SEC, which means we win! Dalton will realize it was meant for him to be a VFL.

I think the writing's on the wall. He hasn't wanted to visit here the last few opportunities he's had. It's been our coaches having to go down to Texas to see him. Right now UT's the boyfriend who the hot chick is trying to give signs to that she wants a breakup. But UT still just keeps showing up at her locker after each period...

If I'm not mistaken, I think the reason Dalton didn't visit UT a couple of weeks ago was b/c he didn't who the DC was gonna be.
