'12 TX LB Dalton Santos (Texas Commit)

Tedy Bruschi and Urlacher were both DE's in college and played LB OK later.

I think Robison is being recruited to play OLB. I don't think he will ever be an MLB at UT. He isn't being recruited to take Santos' place "specifically". I never said he wouldn't play LB.

Here is another point for everyone to ponder...Dalton said a long time ago that if Texas offered him a scholly, then he would probably commit on the spot...well, guess what VN? Texas did offer him on Saturday night...it is now Monday and still no word that Dalton committed on the spot. Now, maybe he already gave them a silent commitment and already called our coaches and de-committed. If so, then no one in the media outlets, who have already talked to him a few times since his Arky trip has found out any of this info. What I am saying is that this is a slight glimmer of hope for the Vols if he has indeed not given any commitment to Texas...he is wavering on what he said a long time ago, and maybe he is extremely ticked off at them and offended that they offered him this late. I am the biggest Vol fan along with the rest of you guys, but I honestly think that if Tennessee didn't even look at me until 10 days before NSD, then I would be ticked off at my home state school for not even giving me a look sooner. That's just me though...I know a lot of you say that you would commit on the spot if this situation happened to you.

Wait...they're doing another in-home visit with Santos this week? Wasn't it last week that they officially met Sunseri?

I'm surprised how many people on VN have written the Vols off with Santos.

OCI, what do you think that our chances are of holding on to Santos? I disagree with most of VN and think that we have a good chance of holding on to him. Dalton has to be stoked about having Coach Sal as his DC, but more importantly as his position coach. He sees the product of LBs that Sal has put on the field at Bama, and has to know that Sal would work wonders for him at Tennessee, and would probably make him a hot commodity in the NFL draft in 3-4 years.

Was just told by a friend of Dalton's that right now it's 60/40 in Texas' favor. We've still got a shot to keep him, but it's going to be difficult.

If we had 10 kids in the exact same situation as Santos, I think we get 6 of them. So I think we have a 60% chance.

More of a numbers issue. Robison isn't a MLB, and never will be.

Lex, that's what I am saying as well. Everyone thinks that since we offered Robison today, then it MUST be because Dalton called the coaches and told him that he committed to Texas; however, I agree with you that Robison is not a MLB. Instead, I think that Richie Brown called the coaches and told him that he will not be coming to UT, so we offered Robison, because we would like to have one more OLB in this class. Make sense?

“Coach [Sam] Pittman called my coach and my coach called me – we pretty much had a conference call,” Rayner said. “They wanted to have Coach [Butch] Davis there [on the phone], but he was in California. But Coach Pittman offered me.

~ from a scout article back in may, before the UNC shake up. Tried to find a thread on him. Watched some film on him, played all LB positions, and some DE. May be a name to watch, Keilen Rayner, I think he has one official left. UNC, Clemson, SCe , NCSt., Duke among his offer list.

6-3 220.
