I feel that if he doesn't step back on our campus this will end badly.

I am sure our coaches are working very hard to convince him to come back and that should be SS biggest goal on wednesday IMO.

The GA visit might actually help. GA could pay for the plane tk to athens. The family then gets a rental car to drive to knoxville followed by the plane trip home. GA essentially pays for half his trip to knoxville.

There is another way that GA could pay for all but the rental car but I doubt they let that happen.

UGA is going to pull out all the stops if they get the visit. Lots of people down here are looking to "pay TN back for taking DR". "Nothing would hurt TN more than taking their fav recruit so close to NSD". Just a sample of the isht Vol Fans have to deal with down here.

So is this the majority of volnations favorite LB recruit? I dont know that I could pick between him and Peters. But, I really like the thought of Santos in the middle beside AJ in a 3-4.

Also, who will play mike when we run the 4-3? (which I expect us to do about 80% of the time next year) Maybe Santos at mike and AJ at sam?

Lathers.

Santos is a Vol plain and simple. Until he officially switches I'm not going to go crazy. CSS will lock this one up and we won't have to worry about anything. What inside LB doesn't want to play behind a 365lb DT/NG? Then we're running the 3-4 which will help him get on the field even faster.

You are really in the dark on his recruitment .Santos has already visited officially. He was planning to visit unofficially last weekend paying his own way to help in the recruiting effort prior to the departure of Wilcox and Sirmon.Since he was paying his own way ,he decided it was not prudent unless the DC had been named .The DC was announced Friday too late for him to then travel because it is expensive to travel from his home in Texas to Knoxville and for his family to pay for a flight that late was out of the question. If Sunseri does not cement his commitment then he is a lost cause and expect him to go to Texas A&M where his Mom wants him to attend.

I'm not in the dark on his recruitment. I've been following since way before he committed to Coach Sirmon while he was on the practice field. It's just my opinion that we really needed to get him BACK on campus to seal the deal. Just read the comments regarding how great the weekend was from other shaky recruits that were here ie) McNeil and Peters and tell me I'm wrong. It's my opinion that if he had come we'd be getting similar comments from him. That was my point and you may disagree, but I'm not in the dark.

The one thing I really like about Dalton - is his leadership. I have watched all his junior and senior highlight footage - but the UA game footage really got me excited. This kid is not just a baller - but a leader on the field. Hopefully Dalton sticks with his UT commit. He will get early playing time but will be an absolute star at UT by the time he graduates. C'mon over Dalton, you already have a fan base.

As a huge UT football fan, UT alum, and UGA hater, I would have to strongly disagree. Athens' bar scene makes Knoxville's strip look pitiful. There are some beautiful ladies down there too!

Yeah because we don't have Old City or other places all over Knoxville or anything.

He has a lot of coaches visiting him this week (including ours on Wednesday). Should be an interesting week in his recruitment. I do think we need to convince him to take one more visit. I think that would seal the deal.

No way can you compare Old City to Athens. I love Old City and am there about every weekend, but it's not even close.

Over the past four years I've been to Athens twice, Tuscaloosa twice, and Gainesville twice. I stayed in fraternity houses at each place - ie, directly on campus (except for Athens - their rows aren't on campus). I have a good basis upon which to judge bar scenes/college towns, or at least the four in question. Athens is undoubtably the worst of the three. Athens' bar scene is on par with Knoxville's strip, and either of those blow Gainesville/Tuscaloosa out of the water. Howver, Athens as a campus is awful. It's spaced out and run down. Gainesville/Tuscaloosa is a different story... :yuck:

But to keep things on topic, Santos needs to be a VFL - his intangibles seem off the charts. Govolsxtra has a new article up about him being "lost". That worries me.

It drives me crazy when people think Knoxville nightlife consists of just the strip. Hell, Market Square blows away the nightlife at most SEC campuses. People ignore North Knoxville, South Knoxville, Fountain City, Bearden Hill, Farrragut, but there are nice little gems hidden all over the city if you care to get out.

Even if you don't, you can't deny that Market Square has a lot to it in a very small area. Tapas, Sushi, Brewery, Martini's, etc.

And to thin, I remember hanging out down there when it was only a Subway, the Mercury Theater, and bunch of homeless folks burning fires in barrels. I kind of miss those days.

I agree theres more than just the Strip but please inform me of the hidden gems in Ftn. City? The only bar in the area that's even occasionally decent is The Pint House.

Yeah, not a big Fountain City fan. West Knoxville has some really cool places to go. You've got Wild Wings off Cambell Station Rd., Irish Times is a cool hangout as well. Roosters and Tin Roof in Rocky Hill both boast outdoor patio bars, as well as Ray's right across from Chili's on Kingston Pike. There is definitely enough places to go chill at other than the downtown area.

That can be said for any University. People get Internships, go home to family, go work jobs in vacation areas, etc. Go to UT's campus in the summer and tell me its a happening place... Knoxville is a bigger city, but the campus in the summer is probably just as dead as Athens...

Most people are at the lake or riding bikes in the Smokeys in the summer. We have a ton of cool things to do in Knoxville year round.
