Santos today...
“To be honest with you man I feel lost,” he said. “I found out about them leaving right after one of our Under Amour practices. When they told me after practice I was like, ‘Man I can’t believe they didn’t tell me.’ I figured Coach Sirmon would tell me those kind of things. He said it all happened so fast but that’s life I guess. I’m still in disbelief that something like this would happen so I just have to sit back and really think about what I want to do now. The coaching staff from Tennessee were my guys so now I’m kind of like, what the hell do I do now? I’m so lost, I ain’t even going to lie. Don’t get me wrong, I like Tennessee besides the coaching staff, but for real Coach Sirmon and Coach Wilcox were a big part of that, but now that they’re gone, it kind of feels like it’s empty there

then you know what? good luck in the NFL, coaching turnover happens all the damn time. and if this supposed bad ass can't handle turnover, then he won't last long anywhere. What happened to people saying Sirmon was selling the UT tradition? obviously not. I'd rather we pick up Richie Brown, and Kirven can room with O'Brien.

To me, I worry more about aTm than anyone else. The rest, IMO, are free trips. If Sal can't impress him then I think he could end up an Aggie.

Arkansas seems like a possibility just because it is closer as well as TCU.

He could certainly surprise me but UGA seems to be too late to the game to do anything but dissuade him from signing with UT. If they negative recruit... which they almost have to do to have even the most miniscule chance... then it is more likely that they would convince him to go neither place than to UGA.

Pretty discouraging, but that's why you commit to a school instead of a position coach...

Mutts are sniffing around him bigtime, and can sell NFL coaches, talent development, an elite defense, and massive playing time at ILB after 2012. Worried about this one. I literally can't stand to hear about how great their freaking defense is from all my mutt friends. Losing Santos would just give them more ammo for their fire.

wow, good for them, but unlike most rational people, Georgia fans and homers think that every recruit should bow down if they offer them. We can sell the exact same things, but if they guy isn't a ride or die vol, forget him. I like Mo Couch, bc he didnt come here for one coach, he came here bc it was UT.

If he likes UT then it is on Sunseri to keep him in the fold.... certainly doable but it does open the door to other teams.

I'm with you in spirit...but relationships are everything in recruiting. They're why he decided to commit here in the first place. Richie Brown is a nice little player, but he's no Santos. I want to hold on to Dalton kicking and screaming. This is Tennessee. This is where elite linebackers play. Dalton can bring that back. I don't know that Richie Brown can.

Wishing we never cut ties with Khalid Henderson--that kid was athletic and could play. He could have gotten bigger over time. That was a mistake.

Santos is hard to read. Sometimes it seems like he is all UT. Sometimes it seems like other schools. Tough to read.

If we don't land brown or santos could be a disappointing haul for LBs. I love peters of course. But we need more than him. We need depth yesterday

I don't really care why they come here. I just care that they do. Or not.

I agree with you about UGA, although I will say there defense was just flat out better than ours---but they are SELLING IT better than we are right now. I don't know why. It shouldn't be. But they are. It's a depressing time to be a Vol fan in Georgia.

Man this guy is making me nervous.

With jay and skeeter having bad vibes about him..,doesn't make me feel too good

Hope sal can lock him up

I disagree with you on this. I would love to have both but really like Brown. They look fairly similar to me except Brown is faster.

No way of knowing that right now. It doesn't seem that any program on UT's level jumped all over him. IMO, he was being recruited as a project and UT ended up needing the room... or at least thinking they would need it.

Listen, IMO, everyone should remain calm. We won't know what they really think of UT until after the visit from Sunseri. I know Dooley brought him here for a reason. He is a great recruiter and a former All American LB. If Santos doesn't want to play for him (and I don't think that will be the case) everyone should just respect it and move on. We need him here but he has to want to be a Vol.

Funny thing. Dooley supposedly can't recruit according to some and does nothing right... but guys who supposedly can recruit seem to want his guys after they show out...

I'm a big fan of Santos just the same as every one else here. Would really love for this kid to be a part of this class, and he could very well be a difference maker.

However, if the kid eventually decides to attend another school for whatever reason he sees fit, then there is absolutely no need to freak out here. Dalton Santos is one helluva football player, and seems to be an all around good kid. But the bottom line is that he isn't going to make or break this class, guys.

Seems like some are already getting your "didn't want him anyways" guns dusted off. Just chill, gents....I'm sure our LB haul will be just fine with or without Santos.
