dont mean to sound negative but i thought santos looked slow on alot of plays. i mean, i watched him through part of the 4rth quarter and seen him make several good plays, but i seen him get beat quite a few times too... esp on the edge.

He'll be a MLB at UT (maybe even grows into a DE), not an OLB so the edge won't really be his concern. Maggitt and Peters and others will clean the edge up nicely.

Here is a video w/ some highlights of Santos in a game this year, go to the 3:00 mark for the game highlights to start.

Gilmer Buckeyes vs Van Vandals - Class 3A Division II Area - Nov 18, 2011 - YouTube

Santos is #78. He is HUGE!!!!

lol the block at 6:45 = Bobby Boucher

I thought the exact same thing when I first saw that play.

Loved the opening kickoff....drilled the return man and caused a fumble...which he recovered...awesome play!!

IMO...he looked plenty fast enough for an MLB in that video...and I'd put him at 250lbs just from the eyeball test...

I know Perroni seems to be set on him being a 5.7 but I think santos will have every chance to impress him at the UA game...and I think he will...

6900 posts!!!! WOOOOHHHHOOOOOO!!!!

u make a good point!...i like the sound of peters on the edge too...i think he is underrated and will be a monster for us next year

Looks like a d-linemen to me. In that game it looked like he was getting blocked out of the play pretty easy. I don't know if it was because they were playing a pass first offense or what, but it definitely got me thinking d-line.

Santos had 2 rushing touchdowns in between the 3 and 4 minute mark of that video. :)

Are youins a shore u seen it rite?

Speed is overrated at middle linebacker you don't have to be an athlete like at olb give me a guy with instincts over speed. Remember brandon spikes from Florida ran one of the slowest times at the combine but still was an Awsome player.

Wow - the VN recruiting analysts minds are playing Fulmer/Chavis again - let's change him to this before he tries to play the position we recruited him for. The Doolanders have already forgotten he likes the LBs big because they don't get hurt as often. The pro-Wilcox bunch have forgotten his desire to use a 3-4 more often - which puts him directly beside a big AJ. Duh! There wil be no success running between the tackles. Sound familiar? I'm giving clues here. So then you have a future NFL first rounder in Maggit roaming the outside and speed rushing the QB with a fast, cover LB on the other side.

I think 247's rating of him is correct. I think Rivals is just dead wrong & I think ESPN has him a little to high.

The thing about Santos is he would be a PERFECT ILB for a 3-4 defense. He would do great at Mike in a 4-3 against teams that our power running teams ex. Alabama, LSU, UGA. (We saw how great AJ looked against those teams but was exposed a little against the "spread" teams).

AJ was exposed as an OLB...I think he'll be a beast even against the spread from the MLB spot...but he is too slow to play on the outside

 "exposed"

I've been watching our games from last year.(don't ask why lol) but AJ was the least of our problems. Got a feeling he'll be very good next season after we trim some of the bad weight off and put some good weight on. I'm looking forward to see him and Maggitt next season.

Maggitt needs to put some weight (muscle) on, too. The fact he lost so much weight during the season was somewhat alarming, but expected.
