If pleasing his parents and friends is what he wants to do, then so be it.
How do we know he is basing his decisions on what his parents want? We don't know that. He is probably taking a good look at the overall picture, and making a decision.
It takes a real man to consider others.

It's fine if Dalton wants to go to Texas. That isn't my problem. My issue is with the guilt. I agree with you. It is a good possibility that Dalton really wants to be here and this is the only means they can use to get him to stay.

Yea, when you have a less fortunate family. DS has no such problems. He should go play where he wants to without remorse, whether it be Tennessee, Texas, or Hawaii.

How do you know that's the case? Dalton Santos is a man, and he don't need anyone feeling sorry for him(as if it's not the fans feeling sorry for themselves). He will make a decision, and then he will go to college, and he will have the time of his life.

Your exactly right! HIS life. So stop worrying about what will be best for him. All of you think it is ok for you to express your opinion about what is best for HIM but it is not ok for his parents to express their opinion to their own son. You all are ridiculous. Just let HIM make his decision and be happy for a kid that has the opportunity to play D1 football no matter what he chooses.

His mom saying that they "shouldn't have to move that far, and take his baby brother away from everything he knows". That is just one example. Many more have been posted in this thread and elsewhere. And if that isn't a parent slipping in a little sly pressure, then im a mouse.

All the "blame his parents" if he picks Texas on here is funny. Not a single person on here knows anything about what is going on with Dalton and his family in Texas. Whose to say DALTON was not 100% Horn the day they offered? Alot of our Vol fans seem to need something to blame bad news on. The problem is, it does not make it true at all. Dalton's parents have and should have ALOT more to say about where their son goes to school over a bunch of butthurt fans on a message board. I do hope he picks Tennessee. If he does not, I am not one who will yell and blame the kids parents for "not letting him live his life".

Very true. That's why this is more than just watching him play at home. If that was the case he could of gone to A&M and be close to home. They can even stay in Van and go watch him play if he went to Ok st. This is about him playing at TX.

he was 99.9%. seriously though, if he was, he is not mean enough to make the coaches wait til NSD. he would have decommitted by now. if there is ONE THING i'm sure of in all of this, its that he is genuinely weighing his options.

Look. I'm the last guy who will be pissed at DS if he commits to TX, if that is really what he wants.

We have all seen from our own experiences what parents can do to players.

Bryce Brown is a good example, but only one of many.

I could be wrong, but I have a right to think his parents are placing pressure. From what I have read, that is my opinion.

Dog the parents all you want. But until Dalton comes out and says he is going to Texas I think we should cut him some slack. At the worst he ends up a Longhorn after some serious pressure from his parents and we turn out ok with the LBs we already have. He isn't a bad guy at all. Texas does this all he time. They've done this to top programs all over the country. I'd be optimistic about Dalton sticking with the Vols the longer this drags out. He hasn't been sold on anything other than being able to wear a Longhorn jersey.

It's a tough call for him, and not only due to his parents pressure. He wants to play at UT cause of the last couple of yrs. He grew up hoping he'd have a chance of playing at utx. So I would think this is is a pretty tough spot to be in.

I hope he is All Vol, but it is what it is if he goes to utx. I just hope he let's our coaches know soon and not wait till weds. That'll determine the way I handle the situation.

If you guys want to belittle The University of Texas, call them TU. It's what the Aggies call Texas because they think they were the first university of Texas and don't recognize TU as being the first university.

With every kid it's different. Some need to stay close to home for a variety of reasons. However, others, even with a close family, need to go away to school to establish their own identity. My guess is he liked Tennessee because he felt it was a place where he could be himself and grow into the man he wants to be. I know my kids felt their schools were the places they wanted to be from the first day they visited. But parental pressure can be a factor. Just hope it doesn't cause him to go where he is not totally comfortable. Life's too short to spend 4-5 years being less that happy.

He could very well be weighing his options. He could also have decommitted when he got the offer. Just because Rivals did not tell you that he did, does not mean it did not happen. We did have a few LBs pop up on the board and visited out of the blue when the Santos news was coming out. We have no idea what the coaches know or what is going on behind closed doors. Dalton may be weighing his options. He may also have jumped at the Texas offer and his parents had nothing to do with it.
