"Mr. Santos", does it not make a difference to your family and Dalton as to how late Texas came into the game...I mean doesn't it just tick you off (and especially Dalton) that he is a back-up plan and maybe even a back-up to a back-up plan? I love the VOLS...don't get me wrong and maybe I can say this because I am not in the position that Dalton is; however, if I had the talent that Dalton has and my home state of Tennessee didn't even look at me until less than 2 weeks before signing day, then I would be enraged probably. I would probably listen to them just to entertain them and get their hopes up and then I would kindly tell them "no way would I come to a school that could have cared less about me playing for them until a short amount of time before NSD". I'm sorry but that is just my feeling. Don't listen to all of the posters who are upset. I think that you can even take the negative comments on here in a positive light....do you know the reason they are being made? Because VN LOVES your son, and we REALLY want him to be a VFL, and know that he can bring a lot of qualities back to our program that we have been missing. Nothing more and nothing less. It's a tough decision. If you truly are his dad, then good luck to your family on this decision. I hope that you truly let him make the decision as to what is best for him, and not let this become a Landon Collins 2.0. We REALLY hope to see Dalton in the one and only ORANGE and WHITE, running through the T come September.
Of course it is! Good Lord people.
lol .. like hed really waste his time screwing with us considering all thats going on at that household... we must be the most easily trolled fanbase in america! i think we are much diff in one good respect though.. tn fans are rarely on other teams boards.. i never go and post on another team board.. few of us do... other fanbases tho , they seem to flock here, and sometimes prey upon our singular obsession... the real.. the one.. the only.. UT since 1796
I am not stalking anyone. If he is Dalton's dad, then I just want him to know that we aren't all negative on this board about this situation. We all get upset and don't want to lose commits, then say things that we probably shouldn't. I have no idea what is being said on Texas' boards about this situation, and I am surely not going to take the time to go see. I spend enough time on here (much to my wife's displeasure). Just offering him some thoughts from an outside view point, because we all can be blinded by our love for our team. Many have said they would take the TN offer if they were in the same position and TN offered late. I have a different perspective, because I would feel slighted and that they want me as a filler for the class (hoping that I would work out). Instead, I could go to a school that has wanted me for a long time and is really excited about me being there. Actually, Chase Robison was pretty much in the same position, and he chose the same route that I would have chosen.
The other thing with your situation is that you walked on at UT Martin, so of course, it's a no-brainer that if Tennessee said, "hey, come up here and walk-on at a different position", then you would go. You would go, even if you were on scholarship at UT Martin, most likely. I know that I probably would too. However, comparing UT to UT Martin...well, there is no comparison as you know. However, comparing the programs of UT and Texas is more on an equal basis. It's not like he's coming to some lower tier program at UT...yes, we have been down, but we are still one of the top 10 programs in the country, and everyone knows (including these recruits in this class) that we are on the way back...it's only a matter of a short time (hopefully) Also, he has to know that his potential future for the NFL has a much higher ceiling if he stays at his natural position, which is MLB. It is a HUGE risk to make a position change...who knows how he will fit into that position? That's the question...he may be terrible! He may be awesome and better than at MLB, but it's a huge risk because no one knows, including himself.
Back on Santos. If he backs out, which I hope he doesn't but who knows at this point; "X" on TB's site says to watch for Quanzell Lambert - a Rutgers commit. He has the size, speed, GPA and ranking (4*, #13 at position, #6 in state on Rivals). He said he is not going to sign on NSD and look more at this options at this point. X says UT coaches are in contact.
