Tennessee linebacker commit Dalton Santos (Van, Texas/Van) has received a scholarship offer from Texas and plans to visit Austin next weekend.

Santos' father, Albert, confirmed to HornsNation that the Under Armour All-American got his offer from Texas offensive line coach Stacy Searels on Saturday night, and Santos is very interested in what the Longhorns have to offer.

"Obviously there is a great interest there from him," Albert Santos said. "We wouldn't do [the visit] if he was not interested, I can assure you of that."

Interesting to note that he got his offer Saturday night while at Arky. Kiffhole said this was a recruiting violation:)

Some of these posts are pretty hilarious and it's only going to get funnier :eek:lol:

There he is...:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

Does DD have his in home left to use?

Does the staff have any contacts left to go out and see him again?

How many total contacts can a staff use on one recruit? I know the HC only gets one.

You can do 7 in homes and coach only allowed once. Sunseri can go see him again.

Thats something you do for world peace or life and death situations. Not sure it applies to a 17 year old HS football player. Please fellow Vol Fan, step away from the cliff...LOL:hi:

haha, you're taking what I said way too seriously. And I'm doing just fine. I'm very excited about our recruiting class and can't wait for NSD.

Why waste the energy? I'd go see Richie Brown and try to flip him instead. Santos already knows what we have to offer. We've been greasin' that squeaky wheel long enough.

Because this is part of recruiting. It would be extremely dumb if you just quit and not send anyone to see him because he is taking a visit.

Waste of time at this point. Hard to imagine a Texas guy turning the Longhorns down.

Go see both of them. You don't lose this battle with any bullets left in the gun!

I agree with Lexvol. I have said before this Texas offer that this guy had decommitted from Okie State before so why would we think he could not do it again. The girl he has had his eye on since first grade has just opened up her arms. I hope he comes to Tennessee but sick of all his back and forth. You guys can have a field day with this one. Main thing you want form Dalton is to let us know so we can use his spot for someone else if he is not committed. But, if RB committed right now with no maybe maybe nots, I would let him take Santos spot and make the decision for him. JMO

I'm no recruiting expert. I've told you before that it takes some big taters to guess about what these kids are going to do, but from everything I've read about Santos...he wants to be a Vol. His dad is not nearly as convinced. Dad is winning, and I don't think a visit amounts to a hill of beans. Especially after Santos' response to the last Sunseri visit. It is clear that pops is now driving the bus.

I don't see Sal as one to just give up on a recruit, so he will take his last visit that he is allowed to take and make the best of it..If it doesn't work and he flips to Texas, then so be it..We gave it our best shot.:wink2:

At least Sal go a nice country fried steak meal from the Santos family.

Thank you! All we can do is wait if he comes to TN great not going to loose sleep over it if he doesn't. Otha or LM would be more of a loss imo.

Wow. Everyone needs to get their teenage daughters off their VN account. A lot of insecure Vol fans on tonight. Has anyone ever visited Austin? Let the kid have fun with the process. We're in good shape here and it's much better that he's visiting Austin than College Station.

Are you sure its 7?

In other D1 sports its contacts and evaluations that can add up to be 7 but at most only 4 contacts.

Has DD done his yet?

I would send someone to see him if for no other reason than to read him in person. The coaches need to know how hard to push for someone else.

The conversations between the staff and Santos would be interesting to hear right now.
