Agreed. The team that he put together at houston is the reason that sumlin is getting looked at for head coaching jobs.
and also he was a huge reason texas tech became a decent program in the early 2000s.
i will get off my soap box now but think if TN does actually need a coach soon they could do alot worse that art briles.
When the whole fire Dooley stuff started briles' name started come up. I thought he was riding RGIII and he might be. But u r right he is someone we should keep an eye on in case we need to look around next yr. Let's see how he does once he loses rgiii and if he can get some def going soon too. He seems to have an eye for talent so that's good.
The aggies might drop sumlin and may go after him now, but they also might not want to piss off baylor anymore than they already have :loco:
well he also recruited keenum and harrell at tech. i know he left before harrel played but he did "find" that qb as well
forgot about the whole "making baylor mad" thing too so that might not work well for the aggies
I know what he's done and that's why I said he has a good eye for talent. The aggies not pissing them off more was kind of tongue in cheek. But still has a little bit of validity to it. Don't want to piss them Fightin Baptist off to much.
Still needs to show he can come up playing def before one can say he's a lock to be a good coach. Especially if he is coming to the SEC.
absolutely. i have been following him since college (did an internship with his team) and wondered if he isnt avoiding the SEC rather than the SEC avoiding him because he stays where offense is valued more than D. but this seems to be easily fixed with a top DC hire.
Could be fixed with a good DC hire but does he have the ability to get one? Like u said he seems to play it safe where offense wins, so does he know a good DC that could handle the SEC or does he even know what a good sec dc looks like? Those r things that I wonder when names r thrown out.
Somebody on the Knox radio said Santos opened his recruitment ... Today around 3:30pm. I live in GA but a friend in Knoxville called me, said it was basically in "conversation and not the topic of discussion". Is this news or just more bad radio from K-town...they are usually 3 days behind ?
Someone on here previously posted that Santos had changed his mind and would not be an EE. That fact, along with the above quote lends credence to rumors I have heard...and I live in Texas.
Regarding Santos:
1. We do not have to worry about aTm, and
2. There is a new team that we need to worry about. This team, also in the SEC, is trying to get Santos to OV in January. Who? UF.
I also read on this board that UT was to have sent one of their coaches to visit Santos - might have been this week or next. I know coaches typically stay in contact with recruits that are committed, even in-home visits, but the timing raises questions.
I hope this is all rumor and conjecture, but I guess we will wait and see...............

Dalton has repeatedly confirmed his commitment to UT. You can wait and wish all you want - but Dalton is a Vol. Hope you enjoyed the texas loss today.
