'12 TN QB Chad Voytik

Jim Chaney coached Drew Brees (6'0" on a good day) in college and that worked out pretty well. I think he broke every Big Ten passing record there was to break. It's not always about height and weight. I'm a little surprised that height is that big an issue with this staff if that is indeed the case here.

I have no doubt that if Chaney wanted Voytik he would turn him into a great college QB. But sounds like his preference is the taller QB's.

I doubt height is the only reason why he doesn't have offers. Jake Heaps was short and he had offers from teams all around the country.

Correct, but there has to be some relation to the fact that 1.) his offer list is somewhat sub-par for a 4* high ranked QB and 2.) some coaches in the area will tell you that he's not the best QB around here, don't ask me who's better, I don't coach anymore and haven't kept up with HSFB for the past 2 years ha. IMO Voytik is a good football player / QB at this level and has potential to be good in college, but only in certain surroundings.

Also in his defense, some people are making him come across as arrogant, but from what I've seen, he's more of a very quiet kid. Has that QB mentality on the football field but is very quiet off. Just my take on him from when I've seen or been around him. I could be completely wrong though. Best of luck to him

The kid at Bradley Copeland is good and very underrated. Imo Jared Allen was better than Voytik he had a few offers even though he played at a very small school and Cincy wanted him before the coach went to ND but he is riding a baseball scholly to UT.....................

In addition to the reasons already given, a short QB playing behind a 6' 5" -- 6' 7" O-Line almost has to be in a spread offense where he can operate from the shotgun every snap in order to have a chance to see the field. Tennessee runs a modified pro style offense and the QB has to be able to operate extensively from under center. Voytik just does not fit in our system -- nothing against the kid.

Several have mentioned that Chaney coached Drew Brees in college, but that cuts both ways. No one knows better than Chaney that there are some short QB's that can do well in both college and in the NFL, but it is equally obvious that Chaney did not want Voytik.

And I agree with you, best of luck to the kid.

Drew Brees may be under 6' too but his eyes are positioned further up on his face then Voytik's allowing him to see over the line better.

While I am not sure if you are serious...if you are..I can just see you walking around at a camp yelling.."Come here kid..let me measure your eye to forehead ratio." That is some info that you just don't get elsewhere.

Yea, the writing was on the wall on this one...the family ties to Pitt, and the chance to play early were too much for us to overcome. He really liked Mullen...but us having 3 really young QBs, took us out of it

Wish Chad the best tho

Of course it did. Y'alls plethora of talent would run off any recruit, let alone a TN kid. Hopefully you guys can overcome this major hinderance.

Just saw him at the jamboree. He looked absolutely terrible. He went 0 for 2 with two picks.

Two picks in a one quarter game against my Class 2A alma mater? Should immediately lose at least two stars for that alone.

Boyd may be 2A but they are no joke they make the playoffs every year and kill every average 2A team they play. Its always south pit and Boyd that win 2A it seems like.

Boyd is very good for a small school but they shouldn't be shutting down Army All-Americans. And South Pittsburg plays 1A.
