'12 TN QB Chad Voytik

Is the 6 foot measurement correct? I thought someone said he was actually a shade below that. I agree, I can't imagine him trying to look over/around/underneath the likes of Tiny and Posey.

I read somewhere the other day that he is more 5'11 than 6'0.

Meh, Chaney had success with another QB about the same height as Voytik. I still have to wonder if his height will restrict him from an offer though.

I'm just not in love w/ his size, our OL averages 6'7 he wont be able to see anything.

No they don't... where did you get that number? The UT Roster has the OL listed as follows:
Carson Anderson 6-1
Alex Bullard 6-2
Mack Crowder 6-2
Zach Fulton 6-5
Darin Gooch 6-2
Marcus Jackson 6-2
JaWuan James 6-6
Marquis Pair 6-5
Kevin Revis 6-1
JerQuari Schofield 6-6
James Stone 6-3
Dallas Thomas 6-5

Seems like the average height of those guys is about 6'3 1/2"

What does the Saints OL average?:whistling: I am starting to believe passing on this kid is going to be one of those "I can't believe we screwed up that bad" mistakes. The staff is going to keep screwing around, and Voytik is going to give them the finger when they finally get after him.

It's called exaggeration, but you forgot to add Richardson, Posey, & Kerbyson to that list.

If the staff thought he deserved an offer he would have already got it IMO, Voytik was probably one of the first QB's they scouted since he is an instate kid. Just b/c Brees had success doesnt mean every short QB will.

Just dont see the staff pursuing him. i agree with the above post if Chaney wanted him he would have already offered. Im sure he was one of the first few evaluated and doesnt sound like were very interested.

Which are like 6'6", 6'7", and 6'4" respectively. I don't like having short QBs either, especially when they aren't even 6'. A Drew Brees comes along once every blue moon.

Since we have missed on some guys that are higher on our board (Kiel, Pike, probably Miles) I don't think it's too big of a stretch to take a chance on Voytik...

He has everything you want but the height...since we have Bray and Worley already and will likely go after a big time QB next year I don't think it's that big of a risk to take Voytik if he wants to commit

I know schollies are tight this year but taking 1 highly rated, in-state QB won't effect our ability to get the DL's and LB's we need

Having watched film of all the 4* TN prospects according to Rivals I would take them all (minus 1 of the RB's not named Kimbrow) and Jelks....we are fortunate to have such a strong year in-state and should take advantage of it

Valid points. I also am usually inclined to trust the staffs evals. It's just in Voytiks case I have one of those gut feelings that they are making a mistake. I will also add in response that just because Voytik is "short" doesn't mean he can't have success.:hi:

Those are some big boys to forget.

I did not forget about them. They are not on the roster which is why I didn't list them. Most prospects are listed 1-2 sometimes even 3 inches taller than they really are. Look at the recruiting profiles of our OL and then look at their heights on the UT Roster, there is a big difference. I just think it's dumb for people to "exaggerate" the average height of our OL as a reason for not taking a QB. There is a reason this staff hasn't offered but it is certainly not because our OL averages 6'7".

Kid is gutsy. He played his last few games with a destroyed throwing hand. One of the most gruesome injuries I've personally witnessed.

this is true. never saw it, but when it happened was expected not to play again at all last season, but was back the following week. Supposedly bone was sticking out and everything.

They also played a team that has won 3 games in the past 2 years that next game too. But ive grown up with Chad hes a good player and I think the kid deserves an offer and if he gets one I think he will most likely unless something crazy happens will end up being a Vol

no, i believe they should to show that they're serious about in-state recruiting. Doesn't mean they should call on every in-state player, but no doubt Chad is one of the better prospects in TN. Even if they don't really want him, I think it would be good for recruiting if they at least gave him time-of-day...... Then again, i admit there is a lot about the business I don't know about. Maybe those phone calls and letters are limited, and they're using them on other prospects. Even still, I would have thought by now they would have at least communicated something to him.

Hey, I'm a fan of Voytik and if the staff offered and he became a Vol I'd be fine with that and welcome him aboard. I just think it's funny that just because a recruiting service ranks a kid highly that our staff is suppose to all of a sudden show interest. That would seem disingenuous at the very least if they operated that way. I'm glad they don't.

For whatever reason the staff has other QB's higher on their board and until rivals came out with the 4star rating most on this board would have questioned an offer to Voytik had he been given one from UT.
