'12 TN OL Jay Guillermo

He's a North Carolina kid and has lived in Tennessee less than a year. Grew up a Clemson fan. Apparently Clemson wants him and he is jumping on the offer. So be it. We will only be able to take a select few from the state of TN next year anyways.

damn this guy is a top ten center and top 3 recruit in Tenn. =(

Definitely not a Top 3 prospect in the state IMO. In the 7-10 range and would have been "iffy" as far as getting a Tennessee offer. I really dont see Tennessee offering that many in-state guys this year. Maybe somewhere in the 5-7 range.

Due to what we have brought in with the last two classes, we will be able to focus on elite talent on the OL for 2012. look for us to only take 3-4 OL at most.

Clemson rivals site has a article up on him today. He says he was a life long Clemson fan. Talks about getting offer after attending Junior day there. I think Brooks and Cadwell are recruiting him. It doesn't say he committed but from the sound of it he might as well.

This is him talking about Junior day there....

Would that not be a violation? Simulating a gameday experience?

agreed. i see us offering Cole, Robinson, and Still atm in addition to Kimbrow and Bowles.

Hey guys, was just in a wedding (my friend was marrying Guillermo's cousin) and Jay was there. Couldn't miss him really, he's a big kid. Super nice guy though, definitely raised to have manners. The entire wedding party went to UT, so we of course put in a good word and ragged on him a bit for choosing Clemp-son. He sounded fairly solid to the Tigers, but did mention Dooley had sent him a few hand-written letters and he would be more interested if they'd recruit him harder. But as of now, he hasn't heard much from them.

Just figured I'd relay what he told me.

hmmm... yet another great player, highly interested, in-state.... and pretty much ignored by the staff. well, Jay should feel great that he at least got a letter. Voytik can't say the same.

 You've seriously got to get off this love-affair with TN recruits. If they were good enough to offer, they'd have an offer. You make it sound like we got Texas talent in TN or something.

i'm glad this staff makes their own evaluations and don't offer players just because of what rivals and scout has them rated and where they are from

How you get "highly interested" from that story mystifies me. The kid loves Clemson, as soon as he got that offer it was over. He was just being polite to a group of UT alums.
