'12 TN CB Josh Shelton....

My only concern is his 4.61 40. For a CB, that is pretty slow. His time is barely fast enough for a strong safety. Coach DD has stated that he wants to recruit speed, so he may not make the grade.

If that is really his size/speed combination then he is not an elite athlete.

He is Extremely Physical and Atheletic from what I can see, in his Junior Highlight film. This Kid is a Major Baller from My Observation.

YouTube - Josh Shelton CB #22 Mt Juliet H.S. 2010-11 Highlights

I would expect to see him playing more press coverage. If he runs a 4.41 at 6'2 I would let him play some press coverage at times in the game. I would have to if I were his coach. If he does they need to show some highlight film of him re-routeing WRs. I stopped half way through the film so there may be some in there. But he should have some of that in the first 5 minutes.

TnVarsity.com

One of the top prospects in the state for the 2012 cycle is Mt. Juliet (TN) High School junior defensive back Josh Shelton (6-foot-2 175lbs). Earlier this summer at the TNVarsity.com Combine in Knoxville, many felt that Shelton was the best overall defensive prospect in attendance.

"I went to Tennessee State, Ole Miss, Memphis and Duke. I did well at all those stops. All those schools said they would stay in touch and they would like to get my film."

The kid was Combine King at the NUC, TnVarsity thought he was the best overall Defensive Player at their combine, and He ran a 4.41 40, LazerTime at TnVarsity Combine. The Kid did a good job making sure he recorded proof. And far as press goes, on the camp videos, he looks extremely phsical on the jam, and shut down in open feild coverage. You gotta do your research.

There are some pro bowl defensive backs in the NFL that didn't crack the 4.6 mark at the combine. So I wouldn't consider him slow.

Such as?

Don't think he made the Pro Bowl, but Joe Haden had a successful Rookie year for the Browns at CB. He posted a 4.60 at the NFL Combine. Then magically a week later at UF's Pro Day he got it around a 4.40 or 4.45. I'm sure it was legit haha.

He's a Tennessee kid but given that our scholly's may be down a bit and that there are 2-3 DB's the Vols are in good shape w/ for 2012---agree...pass.

Arkansas and Vandy have offered among others. He is currently pretty high on Vandy, and has received a letter from CDD.

3 star on Rivals.
Also made the list of Top 25 players in Tennessee.

I will be attending a lot of Mount Juliets games this year so I can keep yall updated on how he does if you would like.

Potential sleeper IMO.
