Can't wait until he flips to the other side of the ball. Do I expect him to contribute sooner rather than later? No. But, do I expect him to contribute at some point in the future? Quite possibly. If he's able to play the game above the shoulders with his size/speed ratio on the defensive side of the ball,he can provide some value.
Lowery and Sunseri both. I just wish he had this spring to have more time to transition into that safety mentality. I know he'll more than likely RS this yr and will have all fall to transition but everyone knows that the spring is where you really get reps and have an opportunity to grow as a player. In the fall, he'll be giving looks on the scout team and or getting 'leftover' reps at S. Meaning it'll be '13 spring before he really gets a feel for things.
What I'm feeling. Wasn't a fan of this offer but I looked at guys like Lowery/Sunseri and said he may eventually play for us. He's a better athlete than either one of those guys(especially Lowery my goodness). Still wish we had went after Elston.
Do you think it came to a matter of timing and size with Elston? Meaning when he was ready to commit and whether he was an SEC cb or safety size wise? Still surprised Elston picked Ole Piss over LSU.
From what I've read, Elston was a Bourque-type deal. Wanted a legit chance to play WR first. I was the biggest homer for Elston, but that was only because I was forcing him (in my mind) to be Ed Reed Jr. Won't even use that style of defense so I have no idea what he'd do here.
As far as Blanc goes, from day 1 I was screaming he's gonna be another kick-returner who will develop into a something. What the something is I just don't know. But he's got wicked speed, and that covers a myriad of sins. But the kick-returner will be how he earns that free edumication. Probably battles Watson and CP to see who's gonna be on the other side of DY.
