Who will Kimbrow choose?

So all these paid coaches think that he's better but you guys think the talent is close. It's not DY was a good HS player and leave it at that. Back to Kimbrow keep Young out of this thread. He has a lot more to prove than if he's better than Kimbrow. Man so tired of this DY stuff. We're on a completely different recruiting class.

We won't ever hear the end of it with all the DY fluffers around.

No dog in this fight but all the coaches thought Chris Donald was a better linebacker than Nick Reveiz also.....just saying

DY fluffer = Someone who points out the factual similarities between DY and Kimbrow

I legitimately don't know and want to know what separates two players that are so physically similar...what I'm getting is a mixture of "because I said so" and "look at the offer list"...neither of which tell me what I want to know (i.e. Why are the lists so differant)

People here just legitimately do not know what you are asking for. They were appalled from the first moment you mentioned Kimbrow and DY in the same sentence. I agree with you, for there really isn't a way you could contend that the two have uncanny physical similarities on paper.

I think it may come down to what coaches see in the film, and the competition Kimbrow plays against is a little better than DY's. I know Kimbrow plays for East, who is not very good at all, but they play good teams in the area.

I think ppl are stoked about Kimbrow..and question Young..is because he didnt have 20+ offers...although I know for a fact that if he would have stayed in the game he would have had double digit offers....everybody fell off after the Vols offered and he committed...they knew they wouldnt get him then

I really don't care one way or the other on this overall debate but isn't that comparison a bit apples to oranges? Kimbrow already has 20+ offers after his Jr. season. You contend that DY would have gotten 10+, which I am not disputing, if he didn't commit to UT, but that commitment didn't happen until last fall. He had plenty of time to build up those 10+ offers before Dooley came calling.

Can't wait for DY's first 100yd KR for a TD, going to be niceeeeee

F the haters, BRING IT DY :loco:

Your point isn't valid, because the coaches you are refering to are Fulmer and Co. Anyone who just used the eyeball test would see that Chris Donald was the better athlete and linebacker out of the two. Hopefully, Dooley is doing what everyone says he is doing and getting smart, hardworking players. Nick Reveiz, though undersized, outworked everyone on the team. Chris Donald's issue was between his ears from what I have heard.

Thump, I wasn't arguing about athletic ability. I was using the offer excuse as to saying its a moot point. Donalds offers blew away Reveiz, unfortunatly most Corches don't value character as much as they should. When recruiting services start using grades and character into their evaluations they will be useful. Right now its just throwing darts!

I know you guys didn't make this a DY thread. F-ing ridiculous. The dude is signed what else matters. Kimbrow is who we are after and I hope this thread stays on him.

+1000 I'm a DY supporter and I'm tired of it on to the next class.

I believe I'm the one who started this thread down this path...it's not my intention to make this about DY...I'm simply asking what is the difference between the 2 that allows for Kimbrow to be so sought after and DY to be an after thought...

If you all don't have anything substantiative to offer up then I suggest just ignoring the question...but it's a legit question and one that is as much about Kimbrow as it is DY so it's not in any way "making this a DY thread"

Big difference is that one signed with the Vols and the other is in the 2012 class. End of story.

That's not the end of the story and I'm going to keep asking the question until someone can give me something more definitive than "look at his offer list"...

A few have done it so far but I would like a wider range of opinions on the matter...if you don't have one then feel free to ignore the question

The difference is Kimbrow is a real RB and Young is a return specialist who may touch the ball every once in a while on offense.

Is the question why is Kimbrow so well thought of on here while the very mention of D Young causes any thread to melt down into the same, tired argument?

Because the answer to that should be obvious. If Young had even half of Kimbrow's offers people wouldn't have such strong opinions about him.

Thunder5, I could be completely wrong, but I think it has alot to do with Devrin being a local player. I know Kimbrow is also an instate prospect from TN, but the fact that Devrin is local as in a Knoxville boy makes people so cautious IMO. People just can't get over the generalization that local East TN football talent is awful so they throw Devrin in that too. I agree that East TN talent isn't very elite, but that doesn't mean Devrin isn't going to be a productive player at UT. I think that has something to do with why people have hated so much on Devrin, but are salivating over the possible commitment of a similarly skilled RB, Brian Kimbrow.

I personally think Kimbrow will be a better RB at the college level than DY. I think DY is mostly restricted to ST star during his career at UT, but who knows.

IMO people look at it this way: West TN RB with 4/5* > East TN RB with 3*.

Most on here are stargazers anyway and then IMO some are hating because of him being a local player. You would think UT fans would actually really support a Knoxville kid who gets this kind of opportunity, but many don't. Actually many of my friends are like many on here. Hating on DY, saying he won't contribute, etc. IDK why. That's my take on it though.

But IMO Kimbrow is the more complete RB and I hope he signs with UT on NSD 2012. I don't think Kimbrow and Young will ever be competing over much because I see DY strictly as a KR specialist. BK will be a RB. Sorry for the long post and hopefully we can get back on the Brian Kimbrow thread.

I agree with this. It's a shame that people are not only unable, but unwilling, to look past the stars, rankings, and the offer lists and look at the player and be your own judge of talent.

My question is why should it matter? Devrin is a Vol. Devrin is good. End of story.

What makes Kimbrow a real RB and Young a return specialist LV? That's what I'm trying to get to the bottom of...

They have similar size, speed, build, athleticism, vision...what does Kimbrow have that separates him from Young?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. The only answers I got were, "He's better" and "look at his offer list".

Dude it's simple not the same player. Just because someone is 5ft 8in 200 lbs doesn't make them Barry Sanders. Everyone playing basketball that is 6ft 6in and 215 is not Micheal Jordan
