So...no is what you're saying

No, I have no track results. Why is it so hard for you to believe that a guy that has multiple articles coming out about his speed and has 20 plus offers is faster than DY. Zach Rogers ran a 10.7, it's fast but not elite.

So an unofficial, unconfirmed and likely hand-timed 10.4 is elite but an electronically timed 10.7 isn't?

The two players have extremely similar size, speed and athleticism...and appraently that pisses everyone off when I point it out

All I want to know is how two players that are so simliar are percieved to be so differant....

What overwhelming skill set or physical attribute allows Kimbrow to have 20+ offers and Young to basically go unnoticed?

Not the same speed and Kimbrow is built more for a RB than DY. Not to mention the overall vision and athleticism. Not knocking your boy, just pointing out the facts. Kimbrow is a top 250 talent, and DY was not so much.

:lolabove:

Are you kidding me?

Is it the East TN vs West TN competition thing that explains this disparity?

Maybe; I see them as similar players like you do. Everyone is excited because he has a big offer list. I believe he has the big offer list because he can play D and run back kicks.

Comparison to Chris Johnson

Yet another :lolabove:

I said Warrick Dunn but the LaMarcus Coker comparison is better. IMO

I have watched film on both guys. Dy has better balance, much better hips, better stop and go. BK has more acceleration and great top end speed. Trust me though many people have offers that underachieve and many have none that overachieve. Similar backs I say DY has the better college career by a nose.

Who's getting pissed off?

Young and Kimbrow are similiar ....as someone mentioned....Young has more wiggle and elusiveness...Kimbrow is a lil faster top end.......
Young had top 10 numbers at US Army combine and so did Kimbrow........including his all combine performance and MVP

Kimbrow blew up last season when he played on the Badger Sports 7-7 Team Tennessee...... and followed that up with several dominant combine performers then he had a great JR year.....Young was invited to play on Badger Sports . but declined in order to work out with his trainer instead and get better for season.....which he did....

whose better.......idk both are electric....you are winning with either player imo......AT this point Devrin's hs career has been more impressive in his 3 years.....Devrin has accumulated nearly 8,000 APY in his career with 80 + tds and rushed for over 5,000. Kimbrow has rushed for 2,700-2,800 yards in his career so far.....with like 30-40 tds.....

both kids are game changers.......you really cant lose either way.........

IMO Devrin is more similar to Jaylen Walton though.......who is another dynamic back...in 2012 class....some ppl have even said Walton is better than Kimbrow.....

with that said Kimbrow is easily the top prospect in the state IMO....for 2012

now devrin may not be considered the same player nationally by some evaluators, site...but to say that Devrin's speed isnt elite...but Kimbrow is is absurd...

also to say he doesnt have the vision and athletic ability is absurd too IMO........when if you just look at the film.......you can easily see devrin has vision and is athletic.....

I know and have seen both kids play................there is no dropoff from Devrin to Kimbrow....they both go hard......some ppl just get caught up in rankings more than others...IMO...

Devrin Young, Bearden (Knoxville, Tenn.) Running Back

Tennessee running back Devrin Young perhaps made the longest trip to Pittsburgh and did not disappoint with a SPARQ Rating of 98.25, showing why Stanford has already extended an offer to him. A two-time all-state selection, Young has been extremely consistent the past two years rushing for over 1,300 yards each year with 40 total touchdowns. Young rated amongst the top performers in several testing categories, running a 4.63 40, 4.03 shuttle, and posting a 33.2-inch vertical, for a rating of 98.25.

Thank you for this...all I wanted was a clear definition of the difference between the two and I feel that I got it with this post...thanks again

And a SPARQ of 98.25...2nd best at the ESPN combine (which UTVOL02 also quoted)...

Again, 1 inch shorter, identical weight, speed and athletic measurables that go toe-in-toe with anyone, similar competition...why are we all stoked for Kimbrow and questioning Young?

That is so unfair. You can not compare a kid in high school to someone like CJ.

There are very very few RBs who can be that type of back, I can only think of 3 in the NFL and cant think of any in the NCAA who fit that mold.

How is it unfair to say that he is the same type of back? Kid can make on cut and take it to the house on any given play. It is a comparison of his running style, not an indication of what he will end doing.

Ha ha devrin young has now crossed into 2012. I have a feeling that he will be compared for years to come. Go Vols!!!

I mean you can find several articles about Devrin's camp exploits.....he was named MVP of the Schumann's Underclassmen camp in ATL after his frosh year....many of Tennessee's current were also at that combine.....he was one of the dominate performers at Tennessee's Elite Camp as a soph...named one of the top 5 soph in attendance...along with D.Arnett, AJ Johnson, Jabriel Washigton, etc.......and he dominated at that camp which featured guys who are playing already on Saturday's in addtion to the younger guys at the time...He had top 10 US Army Numbers....He was named MVP of TNVarsity.com combine ...

every where he has gone when he does go out...he has proven that he can compete or best the nation's elite......and some of those 40 times listed are old.......Devrin runs a 4.35-4.40 40 range currentely...I am willing to bet 1st day he steps on campus he will be the fastest frosh and one of the fastest overall players on the team if not the fastest.....Devrin will run as a SR a 10.5-10.6 100M......if not faster for BHS as a SR....
and ppl say that he is small..well he is very muscular...and weighs 165-170 now....I am sure his weight may drop during track season..but Tennessee is looking to play Devrin @ 170-175 max during his career.........
He will be at spring practice watching/learning and already has the playbook.....He is learning the running back position, slot wr and will have a role on special teams.....

Dooley commented that one of the reason's he liked Devrin was because he played @ 10.7...some guys may run 10.7-10.6 but do they play at that speed....??.....He said that Devrin played at 10.7.......speed is one of this kid's best attributes...along with amazing lateral quickness and agility.......

I say all that to say that if Kimbrow is better than that....then somebody is gonna get a dynamic player...Kimbrow has all the tools...IMO it would serve the Vols well to have both.....IMO....

I mean two kids who can change a game in an instant...ppl should want the BEST players in the state of Tennessee to play for Tennessee..regardless of how they are ranked by a service.....trust the coaches......

I think ppl are stoked about Kimbrow..and question Young..is because he didnt have 20+ offers...although I know for a fact that if he would have stayed in the game he would have had double digit offers....everybody fell off after the Vols offered and he committed...they knew they wouldnt get him then

also Kimbrow is a rivals top 250 watchlist member and is a surefire Rivals 100 member...ppl are attracted to that....it doesnt mean they are wrong...but they leave it up to a service to look at guys for them......instead of actually look at the players them themselves...which looking at certain attributes etc that might seperate player A from player B........

people look at the fact Devrin committed he only had been offered by Stanford, who some say pulled his offer, when they didnt, Western Carolina, Carson Newman, Elon, UTC...but he was talking to alot of schools and the offers from bigger names where just a matter of time if he played the game....

I mean I guess its valid depending from which side of the fence you look at things......
