Kimbrow said his high school coach at Memphis East has begun to hear from Tennessee coaches, and he attended two Vols games during the 2010 season --- the Alabama game in Knoxville and the Vols' crushing win against Memphis in the Liberty Bowl.

"I haven't talked to them much. They talked to my coaches about it and he told me about it. But they have to wait for it before they truly say anything to me," Kimbrow said.

Kimbrow, however, made clear he does feel a connection to both his hometown and to the University of Tennessee.

"Yes sir. Of course. It's your home state. I'm just being patient right now," Kimbrow said of the Vols, then adding praise for his hometown. "Yes sir. Of course (he had to represent Memphis with the towel). Ain't nothing like it."

New article on VolQuest about Kimbrow. What it is yo?

Talks about running a 4.4 40-yard dash, twice, and mentions his success in passing drills. Being small (5-9, 165) he felt like he needed to prove himself.

They actually weren't going to let Kimbrow in the event because he was late paying his money.

Notes he attended two TN games this year, the Bama game in Knoxville and the Memphis game at the Liberty Bowl.

Rivals

The 5-foot-9, 185-pound junior wowed all observers while running one of the top three 40 times of the morning. He then proved it was no fluke by putting up solid numbers in the shuttle and vertical jump.

Playing running back on Friday, he may have surprised many other people, but his performance was not shocking to him at all.

With a towel flanked on his hip similar to how Deion Sanders accessorized his uniform back in the 1990s, Brian Kimbrow raced by any linebacker unfortunate enough to draw his assignment Friday at the National Junior Combine.

At one point, after scorching by one defender for a 40-yard completion with 20 yards to spare, Kimbrow paused for a brief moment to celebrate, kicking his legs out and shimmying his hips with a big smile spread across his face.

It is going to be a war for this kid, but I think we are in a good spot.

I really wish this kid could be a EE. He is the type of kid that given a semester head start, could really prove useful in 2012.

We need his speed badly

We do for sure.

It is one thing for a kid to put up a fast 100m time or 40 time at a combine, but this kid has legit football speed.

To me, he is of that Chris Johnson mold. Please hear that I am not saying he is CJ or on his level. I just mean that he is one of those players that may get 1 yard, 1 yard, 3 yards, 1 yard, and then find a crease and take on to the house.

Its been mentioned several times before on here, but the kid did quite a lot this year despite playing behind a pretty poor OL.

His newly listed measurements is listed as 1" and 20 pounds lighter than Bellamy... he could end up getting a little bigger

I agree. I think size will be an issue for all the analysts.

Didn't stop the analysts from giving Noel Devine a 5 Star rating. Also didn't stop them from rating Demetrius Hart as the #1 APB. And I could be wrong, but I would be very surprised if he didn't get the bump to 5 Star due to his recent awards, performance in the AA Bowl, and his recent commitment to Bama. Also I'd say Bellamy is only about an inch taller than Kimbrow if that.

It is rare for smaller guys to get a 5 Star rating, but not impossible. If he keeps performing like he has at these camps and combines then it's very possible IMO.

Kimbrow is the type of talent that we need to keep in-state. Tennessee doesn't produce the type of talent as states like Cali, Georgia, Florida, or Texas so when we get players like Kimbrow, we have to get them.

Named Offensive MVP of the Army Combine by Rivals. Says hes high on Bama, Auburn, and in-state schools Memphis and Tennessee.

While a lot of prospects that test off the charts fall short when it comes time to translate to actual football skills, it was not the case here. Playing running back, Kimbrow proved to be no match for linebackers in one-on-one drills. He is natural catching the ball out of the backfield and could even end up as a slot receiver at the next level.
