Can we take both CP and Davis? Quinshad looks like a take regardless and if we win the battle for CP on signing day, I'd rather it be us than UGA or Auburn. I know that's a lot of WR in one class (Bowles, Croom, Pig, CP, Davis) but some may not pan out, ie. Milton. Hunter probably won't be full strength next season either.

I don't think he's a better option. I do, however, think he's the next best option.

IMO this is how real programs get built. We start to take EE and people that want to be VFL. If you talk to most LSU, OU, OSU(besides the troubling times), BAMA and of course Texas (a little different situation) recruits they are set on the time they spent with their future teammates and want to go to this school. I say we start to take the best players (Rankings, Position and EE Status) combined and if we have a real need or desire we leave a scholly or 2 open for a real big time player and then move on to next year. If we took Davis, Cochran and the Juco Recruits. We can leave 2-3 positions open for Davis,Patterson,Perkins,Bourque and whomever else and if they fill up then great if not then 2013 starts early and we lick our chops and go forward.

Davis is tall and skinny and certainly needs to add weight and strength, but he has very good hands, adjusts to poorly thrown balls and gets upfield quickly. He is a solid route runner although he can round his routes at times, but he is very effective at getting separation as well as using his long frame and arms to fend off defenders and make tough catches. He does everything with apparent little effort.

I agree. I would take him over Patterson at this point. Bigger upside with more years to play. CP is a risk academically. Plus, not being an EE hurts with his effectiveness in year 1.
Long term depth is the better option here IMO.

Redding is a VFL. I would take that with his athleticism instead of a possible one and done Juco WR who we are not sure if we will get.

I remember when other guys who committed people would chat about how they would take one guy over another. I only want guys who want to be a true VFL, not a Pat Martin, Bryce Brown or Markeith Ambles. If you are worried about star-gazing CFB puts 3-star recruits with speed in the NFL all the time. If he is ready to take this 4 year leap then I for one as a fan am ready to watch him and cheer him on.

Oh I'm not saying I don't want Redding, just saying Davis and Patterson along with Hunter/Croom/Rogers would be sick.

Problem with Patterson is that he will physically be ready, but only have the fall practice to learn the playbook and develop chemistry with Bray.
Same could be said for this guy, except he will have 3 more years to play afterwords. Plus, isn't a risk academically.
If Patterson was an EE, then things would be different.

Scout article talks about him being in contact with South Carolina and Clemson but doesn't have an offer from either.

Tennessee and Wake Forest are his top-two options.

He’ll head to Knoxville for an official visit on the weekend of Jan. 20. A week before, the 6-foot-3, 180-pound wide receiver will head to Winston-Salem.

“They seem like they really want me,” Davis said. “They’re on me hard. That’s what I like about those teams. They’re really pursuing me.”

A decision will be made sometime shortly after his official visits. he will not go all the way until signing day.

This guy would be a great pickup in light of Autry switching his commitment to MSU...

We'd pick up a solid 4* that can play 4 years instead of a 4* Juco who can only play two

(Not trying to be a stargazer, because both are great recruits, just sayin')

I still favor Patterson over any other WR in this class even with the grade concerns and him not being an EE.

But I would gladly accept Davis as part of UT's class. He is a playmaker.

Davis was once again one of the most consistent and dominant receivers on the day, using his size and big, reliable hands to snatch the ball away from defenders and his sneaky speed to gain separation. He's not a burner and won't run away from many people, but he is a terrific possession receiver who can also be a deep threat because he's great at jump balls and in traffic.

Our WR Corp doesn't have this type of guy right now. Hunter was a do it all type of guy. But I still sometimes worry with Da'rick. This is a reliable guy that will get open and has excellent ball skills.

be nice to go back to back in the state of georgia with their gatorade players of the year. looks like davis is really coming out of nowhere to be a big time get for us, starting to like the idea of getting him over patterson. i just like the idea of building for the future. i know you cant argue with pattersons pure ungodly athleticism but you also cant like the idea of a possible one and done guy with less time to adjust. and lets think about it, why is patterson a juco and not already on a big time team making a huge name for himself? thats a legit question, someone fill me in. did he have bad grades? get into trouble? if so then heck yeah bring on davis, the kid has super impressive numbers, has four years to play and has worked hard enough in school to be an EE. sounds like he just evened the playing field.
