'12 NC RB Keith Marshall (UGA Commit)

facilities can encompass a lot. UGA' s weightroom, practice fields, and lockerroom did just get upgraded themselves. In addition, I have yet to see any other SEC campus build nicer residences where the athletes stay than East Campus Village at UGA. I am guessing that could have a lot to do with things as well. Hell, maybe the recruits liked the academic building.

Glad to hear Hamilton is good at something.

UGA's facilities are some of the best in the nation, but you can say that for many of the top sec schools. We hear recruits talking about how terrific they are when compared with our rivals, but that's just part of the entire package. As UGAInsider said most kids grew up wanting to suit up for a particular school and I do agree having great facilities is overrated for many recruits, but it could mean the world to other recruits. Each player has something that draws them to a school whether it's that great dorm, awesome weight room, playing time, etc..

UGA's facilites are'nt even on the same leve as UT's right now, & they wont even be in the same universe after Tennessee gets done with the additional renovations next summer.

i'd be willing to bet that u have never set foot in any of uga's facilites.:salute:

UGA and Richt is attractive to recruits. I remember meeting him back in 02 at a camp. He was a cool coach and hands on in our one on one drills. Don't know why you guys hate him so much. Also the Georgia facilities were nice. I've never seen UT's but I don't think facilities would be an issue at all with any recruit going to UGA. It's far from a slum.

& I'm willing to bet you have never set foot in UT's facilites, I have & I can guarantee you that right now their not on Tennessee's level & once the renovations get done UGA's wont be in the same universe. Once our renovations get done we will easily be in the top 5 for best facilities in the nation.

Facilities make a big difference if a SEC school is recruiting against schools from other conferences, but any player at a school that takes football seriously will have access to the equipment they need to prepare for college and get ready for the pros. When UT, UF, UGA, etc are competing with each other for a recruit, facilities are overrated.

Of course, you never can tell what will sway a recruit. Wasn't there one player that chose NC State because they had the best ice cream?

yep.. example leonard floyd just raved about uga's dorms being the best of any university he has visited.. it's different for every recruit, but if you are going to an sec school in most cases you will have great facilities.

I think I remember reading something like that. I also remember this HS football recruit who chose Oregon because he thought they had the coolest uniforms.

Facilities are important but I honestly think that most of the kids already know where they want to go. I'm sure facilities may sway some kids but not as much as you'd think.

ice cream: code word for ladies provided by the boosters

Coolest uniform: code word for best automobiles provided by boosters

Sorry guys, couldn't contain myself

I'd agree with that.. or at least have a very good idea before the recruiting process ever starts.

You obviously haven't seen UT's facilities. I would bet 10 times out of 10, an unbiased third party would choose UT's, especially after the renovations. Just not close.

But anyways, I don't see us getting Marshall. I think this one is all but over for UT.

i never said that i seen ut's facilites.but how could you say that you could guarantee that without seeing both of them. i'm not saying uga's is niser, but if ut's is as great as you say they are why do you need a new one?:hi:

Reason UT is getting new facilities:

They needed a new building for faculty offices and student recreation.

Athletics (Football) was the only way the school could raise the money for the new buildings.

In the end, the school gets better facilities for football and the old building supplies more room for academic purposes.

Win Win for the University. Impovement for both Academics and Athletics. 2 Birds 1 Stone.

Going back to Marshall, Georgia should be more worried about Auburn than they seem to be.

I think the only thing UGA needs to be worried about is whether Richt will still be coach at the end of the season. I am guessing the thing$ that made AUburn so appealing are going to be drying up considerably after all the brouhaha.

I personally think it speaks volumes that UGA barely glanced at the instate RB talent this year and a guy that had been all UGA for a lot of this year suddenly and quite early committed to UF.

That's the kind of attitude I was talking about. Uga may be in the driver's seat but he loved his visit and the depth chart at Auburn.
