'12 NC OT D.J. Humphries

Sorry to the board if I got anyone's expectations for a commitment up today with my shenanigans. I had myself convinced.

I really appreciate our insiders but if there prodictions were there batting avg. We would have no fear of the Yankee's stealing them away lol

The real insiders never made bold, unequivocal predictions. They gave the info they had, and the conclusions they were drawing from that info. But they also clearly avoided saying "lock". I'm thinking primarily Skeeter and SBV on this. Contrast with Infinite, who made brash guarantees and bets about the announcement.

Insiders bring info, draw your own conclusions. Trolls make noise. Here endeth the lesson.

Good post.

If he does not add quite a bit of size and power...he will not be ready as a freshman in the SEC. IF UF is forced to have him start....I am fine with that. Santos is coming on a blitz...Strap in DJ...it's about to get ugly.

Why would we need him to start as a freshman? Nobody on starting on our line is a senior. He probably will need a year to gain about 50 lbs but excited about his and Dunker's potential. Now if we can only add Avery Young

Jacques Smith says hi. He can't wait to run circles around him.

Until then, he'll just blow Brantley's worthless ass up.

It was more a response to the Gator troll who thinks every post calling for a redshirt is just sour grapes.

You're right, had he gone to TN, fans wouldn't care, he was just gonna redshift because there's 6 better OL on TN's team..... I love it

DJ would have been a great get. I'm happier with Santos because the need is obviously greater, but I really would have liked to get DJ too. You can never have too many talented o-linemen. I will say Mo Collins involvement in his recruiting never sat right with me. But, then again, if it had been Cosey Coleman or Aaron Sears training him, I might feel differently. So I admit my bias.

Well, you must admit that it's hard to look at it any other way when a thread has almost 400 pages, 5,750 posts, and 420,500 views, primarily comprised of fans slobbering all over themselves in anticipation of his commitment and even bickering incessantly amongst themselves about the possibility of him arriving in Knoxville... only to turn around and make disparaging remarks about him, claim he's undersized (funniest one yet), and pick him apart with imaginary faults or shortcomings once it's determined he didn't pick UT.

I think I just quoted the definition of "sour grapes" from the unabridged version of The Recruiting Urban Dictionary.

I guess I just don't get belittling players once they make their commitment known and it turns out not to be in your favor... doesn't quite seem genuine when the folks who suddenly have something negative to say now, are the same folks who were literally praying for the guy's commitment for weeks, right up to the minute before his announcement.

You must be new to these parts, or lack attention skills. It's par for the course here. If they pick us, sweet. If they don't, the ole "we didn't want them anyways" comes into play.

So you think a 6'5" 265lbs OT starts in the SEC? Cool story.

He will probably redshirt. That's not an insult to the kid. A redshirt year will probably benefit him. As a UT fan, I just wish we could have beat UF for a top 10 recruit. Do we need OLs like UF? Absolutely not.

The problem is that these aren't imaginary or invented after he picked UT. He was always undersized. He won't always be undersized. But right now he is, and there really isn't any debating that. That's not sour grapes, that's truth.

Even your Gator friend that I was quoting agrees that he'll need a year to gain weight, because it's obvious. Is it sour grapes on his part too?
