'12 NC OT D.J. Humphries

I think alot of your fanbase thinks beating Florida changes alot of things.

Beating the 2011 Florida team, or the 2010 for that matter, is not like what it used to mean.

We are an average football team with average talent at certain positions. Beating us isn't anything special anymore.

It's like us beating FSU or UGA for all these years. before it was great, but now it's like...............expected.

That really isn't true for a number of reasons. You may or may not be good... but the perception of UT rises if they can beat you. You ARE the monkey on UT's back.

More importantly, UT needs players. The program needs to be looked at as being on the level of UF to have any chance of convincing kids to leave their home states for K'ville.

Perhaps so, but how many recruits have actually lived up to that hype the last 10 years? I can only think of a few. Tebow, Vince Young, and Reggie Bush.......and even those are few and far between.

I imagine you are right though. You will have some on this board going crazy.

You forgot to mention that awesome safety that was a top 5 pick in your group. I think Eric Berry lived up to and more than his hype.

GO VOLS!!!

What positions are better?

this is a tricky question. because, as an example, i think the offensive line will be better. they won't necessarily be more talented as three guys were drafted off the 2010 offensive line.

but, the amount of bad snaps and missed blocking assignments were more than i remember seeing in the last 10 years combined.

I looked at this post... it is the most optimistic thing I have seen from you. Glad you are feeling so good today.

Last night --true story--I had a vivid dream that the Vols beat the Gators. I was watching the post game analysis. Tim Brando said the difference was QB play and that Florida had to find some answers...How's that for optimistic?

As far as your post, are you sure you aren't mixing me up with someone else?...I see myself as a little Pollyanna-ish when it comes to recruiting. I just knew we were going to land Dawson and at least one DT last National Signing Day. Not sure what negative posts you're referring to...?

It kills me when a team has 2 NC's in the last 5 years, and because they go 8-5 last year and have to start over with a new coach. A fan goes and acts like there's no hope for them. Have you not seen what Tennessee has had to deal with the last 5 years compared to Florida? I dont want to hear it troll. Cant wait till we come into gainesville this year, thats all im gonna say.

Sorry bro, had you confused with another... hope you accept my apologies. :peace2:

Brantley sucks.

I am at the point of just start Driskel, take our lumps, and build for the future.

I have told you all of this anyways. If we are going to be awful, at least do it with an eye towards rebuilding the program for the future.
I don't buy any of this woe is me shat. The gators could potentially be real good this year. No way are they a championship caliber team, but they can still be very good. I think 8-4 at worst.

Can you give me your game by game win/loss expectation this year?

ok. i've got time to type this out now. this is going to be long.

i will admit from the start that damn near the whole roster is unproven. so, i won't mention specific players names as it will sound silly to name people who haven't done anything. i still believe that i would not trade rosters with anyone in the SEC East. doesn't mean i wouldn't love to have several players on various teams. but, swapping whole rosters, i wouldn't do it.

first, i'll start with the defense. in 2010 (preseason), the defense was supposed to be the weak link. it had a lot of talented freshman and upperclassman (like justin trattou and duke lemmens) who were serviceable and weren't all that noteworthy. now, that they are a year older i expect them to be a lot better. the weak spot is cb, as there is no depth. but, the front seven should be fine and i think they'll be solid at safety.

offensively.....

if the new staff can resurrect brantley, i think they will be respectable. if brantley stinks, then 2011 will not be very fun to watch and people will just have to wait until 2012. i am different than most people and especially most gators. i think there are rb's and wr's on the team who can make plays. you wouldn't know it, because they haven't done anything, but i believe they got people who can do things. i think the starting offensive line is going to be pretty good (not good, not bad) and that's a hell of a lot better than last year. however, injuries on the offensive line would be big, big trouble.

i personnally believe brantley can be salvaged to perform at a serviceable level. i think being in the right system and not having to guess where the snap is going to be or which offensive lineman will use the matador technique will do wonders. i also think the wr's will benefit from coaches who actually understand the passing game. they have a track team at the skill positions and i have to believe that they can do something to get people with that kind of speed in space.

NEVER

nah homeslice...it's just my way of saying 'feel free to add something about DJ, even though there isn't really any new information to add.' The discussion was about why reasons UT/UF need this kid....and wondering why Waco thinks UF is spiraling into mediocrity.

What are we supposed to say? He's in Charlotte in the AC. Hasn't made a peep in days. Some gator insider thinks he knows what will happen. A Vol insider --let's call him Skeeter-- says the opposite. We just waitin at this point. The current debate centers on who needs Humphries more...feel free to contribute

It was really tongue in cheek but I should have assumed it would get an abrasive response. Lots of tension on the boards these days, right?

I suppose that's exactly what we're supposed to say? Each person has their opinion of where they think he's going to go. Posting it makes no difference so that's why I never post things like "vol-lock." What I'd really like to know is what gator mods know or think they know as to why they're so confident dj is going to be a gator.

ugh....what you got to add brah? another prediction from a fan?

I never give predictions, brah, but I will say the lack of updates from Skeeter and the coaches being quiet has me worried and very skeptical :/

I can't stand Florida. I don't want them to get any recruits that helps their cause, much less the #1 OT this year. This week will be rough waiting until Friday. I wish it was already over ATP.
