The other factor is it doesn't matter if you get him, if you fill the class around him with mediocre talent. Obviously in your case that isn't happening based on your class last year and the class you have so far this year, but getting a top flight kid like this means nothing if there isn't talent around him.

Perhaps so, but how many recruits have actually lived up to that hype the last 10 years? I can only think of a few. Tebow, Vince Young, and Reggie Bush.......and even those are few and far between.

I imagine you are right though. You will have some on this board going crazy.

I can think of a few....how bout Eric 'mother loving' Berry

Its all about perception in this case. Adding one solid talent will help anyones chances of adding another

true and he dissed the UT hat or something :eek:lol:

Hahaha, thats so hilarious. Don't you have some urine bombs to be making? Football season is right around the corner. Make them now, so they are extra smelly when you throw them on some 70 year old woman there with her grand kids.

I was worried this story had died.

UT needs him... but more than that... UT needs for UF not to have him.

Maybe so, but UF is far from the threat that we used to be.

Look at our roster for proof. Nobody on the 1st or 2nd preseason All-SEC team for the first time in years..........

I think alot of your fanbase thinks beating Florida changes alot of things.

Beating the 2011 Florida team, or the 2010 for that matter, is not like what it used to mean.

We are an average football team with average talent at certain positions. Beating us isn't anything special anymore.

It's like us beating FSU or UGA for all these years. before it was great, but now it's like...............expected.

Keep telling yourself that. This is just some random stuff you are saying because you see what's coming. I guess it's never too early to start making excuses. I'm not saying we will beat Florida this year , but from the way you put things , it sounds like you are expecting to have your asses handed to you. Don't think it won't be special if we do. Enough with the damage control.Have some faith in Muschimp and Frontbutt. Go Gata!

UT getting a W against one of its top 2 rivals is a huge deal, it doesn't matter how good Florida is this year. JMO

It is always special when we beat the gators. And it will be even more special this year in the swamp....Waco. :)

I see what's coming? UT beating Florida? It wouldn't surprise me at all. We aren't very good...........but "beating Florida" isn't what it used to be and your fan base, well alot of them, realize that.

You said I see what's coming and then you say you aren't saying you will beat Florida.

Which is it?

You are also talking about a fan who doesn't get riled up like that. I am of the train of thought when you beat any team, it's act like you've been there.

I react the same way when we beat UT, UGA, FSU, etc. To me, you expect to win every game you play in, rivalry or not.

When you get to a point where you are tearing down goalposts or going crazy over beating a team, it says alot about a program. i have made my thoughts on this well known. I don't ever want to see us tearing down goalposts at Florida for beating UT, FSU, LSU or whoever.

It tells me about your program's expectations when it occurs. I trust you won't go crazy like "it's special" just because it's Florida.

It does mean something. It's a win over a name team that we haven't beaten in a while. That gives the coaching staff momentum, and it prevents us from getting to a Kentucky/Tennessee level where we just expect something to go wrong every year (I hear the UT/Bama rivalry was like this in the early 90s). Florida is the closest thing we've had to this in 15 years. Think of how much Tennessee struggled just to beat Zook.

And coaching staffs have gotten momentum from wins over mediocre name teams before. Saban's big wins his first year at LSU and his first year at Bama were over four-loss Tennessee teams.

i was wondering what took you so long.

You know how I feel about our team.

It falls on Brantley. If he and Weis click, then you could possibly get to 9 wins. If not, then it could be as low as 7. And neither team will really know much until game 3.

Waco,

I think you will agree that at this point in time, Tennessee's football program is on the way up and Florida is trying to steady their's. The game this season will be very competitive and could go either way. Tennessee will still be on the way up in 2012. The question is, "In which direction will Florida's football program be going in 2012?"

Decisions by great players like DJ are important to the future of both programs!

Brantley sucks.

I am at the point of just start Driskel, take our lumps, and build for the future.

I have told you all of this anyways. If we are going to be awful, at least do it with an eye towards rebuilding the program for the future.

Yeah, no question we are reeling. I think alot of recruits, based on their comments, recognize they can come in and help Florida rebuild the program and stop the downward slide.

We have had several recruits mention how the staff is telling them to come in and help us rebuild and get out of this gutter. You just hope some listen and make the decision to be part of the class that helps rebuild Florida's program back to being respectable.

i'm pretty sure Saban would have gotten momentum regardless of who he beat.

You guys beat Zook 2 out of 3 years. I am not sure that was "struggling" with Zook. Sure 2004 was close, but 2003 wasn't.

Hahaha. You have to be trolling.
