'12 NC OT D.J. Humphries

Certainly can't hurt. The Vols are rolling right now and Florida is reelin'

I just don't get it.

Really perplexed as to what the heck is going on here. Very surprising to me.

UF is FINE with it 15 commits....can't complain about 10 4*commits atp. Maye,Poole, Dunker, Davis, Jones,Pittman and Powell are the real thing.

We have very little offensive skill players though. we need those really bad with this new pro-set, and you know that.

i know our class will finish pretty decent, but we need some more offensive skill guys as well.

The only thing that concerns me is, if you take away Skeeter's comments, what evidence is their supporting DJ's sudden switch in leader? A visit possibly? Was he confirmed on campus? Canceling FNL would be proof, but as of right now DJ is refusing to talk to media and I haven't seen that much physical proof besides Skeeter's comments

But IMO Vol:)

FWIW I think if Pace ended every one of his posts during with a GBO! or a V'B then it would raise the collective mood of this board several points and we could finally stop questioning his loyalty and talk recruiting:)

Don't know if Humphries is this kind of kid, but I feel he is doing what Gabe Wright did before NSD... If not, and he becomes a Vol, then you have got to give Dooley credit for pulling this off.

Comparing Humphries to Gabe Wright is like comparing George Washington to Barack Obama.

HG said that the Gator boards have confirmed that DJ was here this weekend for a visit. Then he sent out a tweet that he was shutting down contact with the media for his recruitment. A lot of puzzle pieces on the board that everyone is scrambling to put together ATP. It's exciting but it's not over by a long shot for the Vols or Gators.

That is an insult of the highest order to George Washington.

That was kinda the point.... two totally opposite people. Gabe Wright sought attention, Humphries has not done anything to suggest he would even attempt to pull the stunts Wright did.

Here is how I see the order of events.

DJ has always like Tennessee and Florida the best, and in his mind Florida a little more so he has always listed them as his leader. This is mainly due to his friendship w/ Mo Collins and honestly Florida being the "cooler" place to play for a while.

Then his parents who like Tennessee's distance from home and staff urged him to visit Tennessee one more time. On the trip DJ was sold by Heistand on getting to the league and playing on a dominant offensive line.

DJ returned home and sat down with his family. After that sit down he was convinced by the coaches, the visit, and his parents that TN is the place for him. So he releases the statement to the media that he is ready to announce, will do so the 5th and not being the drama queen he says he won't be making any statements.

Since he is fully decided on his school he doesn't see the reason to make the trip down to Florida so he decides not to go unless he has a last second change of heart.

Skeeter talks to CHH and he tells him he thinks he locked him up the last time they talked and he will feel 100% certain as long as he doesn't get back down to Gainesville before the 5th.

I like this story.

:eek:lol:

Is that all it takes is slapping a V,B on a post to be a fan?

I have been a VOL fan for a long time and can say when I made the move from Indiana to Tennessee it was 100% for the Vols. I got sick of driving the 1400 miles round trip 5-6 times a year to get to games. I quit my job of 5 years and moved with no job, no place to live and just said I will figure it out when I get there. Within 48 hours I had found a job and moved into a condo with a view of Neyland. I can say the time that I knew I was a real Vol fan was when I was ready to make the trip to the Cotton Bowl to see the Vols play KState. My flight was cancelled last minute because of the snow/ice storm and I decided to hell with the "state of emergency" that had been declared and said if I can make it to the interstate...I can get there. I found myself driving down the road at about 25 miles an hour using the lights on the side of a tractor trailer to guide myself as I could not see the road it was snowing so hard. I made it to Dallas the day before the game and without realizing what I had done I ended up staying in the Sheraton Suites in DT Marketcenter. I swear the whole hotel was Kstate fans except me!! For those who made the trip....it was snow and ice all over Dallas. One of the colder games I have ever been to...and Kstate beat the hell out of us. It was tough to stay warm with very little to cheer about. I was sitting about 2 rows up from the field next to the band and got to see TH break his long run late in the game. It may have been the bright spot of the trip. Vol fans...come from all different walks of life...but they are still Vol Fans.

only part of the scenario that is off is the part about Aug 5th...he announce that dte before his UT visit. Other than that it seems plausible. Good post.

Gotcha, I honestly still haven't figured out when the visit went down...this most recent weekend?

The UT staff is very secretive. They don't like to leak anything and it seems they don't want outsiders to know what they're up to. Other than Skeeter, there doesn't seem to be much info coming out.

You know what they say, recruiting is a marathon not a sprint.

Not discounting what you said, but thought I'd bring this up: How many commits have defected from Dooley? IIRC, Dooley and Co. do a pretty decent job retaining commits once they have been received.

Gabe Wright will wish he had been a Vol after Humphries pancakes him all day on the field in the next few years and after NCAA sanctions destroy Auburns pathetic excuse for a program!
