'12 NC OT D.J. Humphries

UF may be the team to beat but I hear UT is closing ground on him. He likes the early playing time that he could see at UT.

OL DJ Humphries of Charlotte has three of his top five schools in place and is in the process of deciding on the final two. Humpries said Florida, Tennessee and USC are his top three in order right now.

Humphries looking to add two more

Rivals #3 player in the country.

If he picked today UF would probably be his choice but watch out for UT. A very good friend of mine is a coach at Mallard Creek(another sport) but DJ is the talk of the school right now and the word is UT is gaining ground fast at the moment. Not to mention Knoxville is a little closer to Charlotte which could also help.

Again anything can happen, but UT is in a good position right now and I think the longer he waits to decide may be good for UT.

Thanks for the info TW, I always thought this one would end up a close race between UT/UF. A good gator spanking by the vols this year could only help our chances.

Per Mapquest:
Charlotte, NC to Knoxville, TN --- 4 hours 2 minutes / 229.49 miles
Charlotte, NC to Gainesville, FL --- 7 hours 14 minutes / 451.97 miles

Hubbs said Tennessee/Florida battle.

We offer early PT & closer distance to home.

With all of the Florida imminent commitment chatter, Hubbs's quote is encouraging given his tentative outlook on most things... but I guess he still isn't saying much is he?

not much right now....it's still very early. I think time to play out the recruitment of DJ can help us. He really likes Florida and it's clear that it's his choice to make on where he plays ball. says his next visit to gainesville will most likely be for the florida v alabama game on Oct. 1st.

If Dooley wants to be taken seriously on the recruiting trail, he is going to have to sign some players of this calibur. He is going to have to win head-to-head battles vs the likes of Florida, Alabama, Auburn and the rest of the SEC and ACC (Clemson). There's still loads of time to recruit and take the lead from UF.

Totally Agree.

Who doesn't take Dooley seriously?

Exactly what I'm wondering. He's already brought in a top-15 recruiting class and won several big head-to-head recruiting battles. People continue to act as if he were hired yesterday.

Thanks... I don't know about some of these folks on here. Still shell-shocked from Kiff I guess...:good!:

Top 15 isn't exactly something to be proud of.

After a 6-7 season with no experience in big recruiting battles, I'll take the top-15 finish. Imagine what that would translate to after an 11-2 season and ample experience in big-time recruiting.

I'll take it, too. But he still has to prove he can be a Top 5-8 recruiter.

I definitely understand what you're saying. I just don't see why people are assigning grounds for what Dooley has to do to be taken seriously.

A top-15 class proves his ability as a recruiter and should clear any doubt on that front.

Back to Humphries, I honestly believe the UTvsUF matchup this Fall is going to help DJ make his choice.

from what i have seen from Dooley is his first class and the six early guys is that he has a eye for talent along with the staff. we have very few misses in his first class which after a yr is impressive to say and by all accounts from the early kids they all have potential to help this yr.. would be a huge statement if we land d.j though
