'12 MS LB Richie Brown

With the gift of hindsight, we never really had a chance, IMO. We got in on him extremely late, starting with Sirmon. Sirmon left, and on top of that, he's a top MS recruit. the MS schools may not be very good, but they know how to keep guys in-state.

In essence, what you are saying is true, but you have to remember that when you run a 3-4 you are recruiting players that are different from what the recruiting services consider them. For instance, in a 3-4 your "DEs" are really 3 technique DTs in a 4-3. Your Jack LBer is a pass rushing DE type. So really in a 3-4 I would argue that you might have to recruit more DT than you would in a 4-3...

I understand how it works.

Does anyone follow the other school's boards? Is his brother posting on them. Just curious if he stopped posting everywhere or just here?

Hint, hint...:flush:

Richie cancelled his visit to Oxford this weekend per Ole Miss beat writer Chuck Rounsville. Hasn't been independently confirmed by Richie yet.

Was rumored to have "committed" to State this past weekend by another recruit, but was never made official, due to his intentions to pray about and discuss the decision with family. At this point, it seems pretty likely that he ends up a Bulldog...

People in Oxford are shocked at this one. He was supposedly an OM lock going into last week. Of course, this was all coming from OM people.

As for his brother, he posted on tigerdroppings and read various other sites. A good friend of mine talked to him a couple of times.

Haha we know all about Vol Locks going elsewhere and being shocked. Denico Autry, Damien Jacobs, Jeff Luc come to mind.

Hubbs was asked if the Richie Brown ship had sailed...

Yes, and I think Sal Sunseri helped push it out to sea. I'm not sure Brown is the type of linebacker (size wise) that Sunseri wants.

I wouldn't call it a boom at all. Not trying to say I know more about LB skill than Sunseri because that would be ridiculous, but Richie Brown is a very good LB prospect. Has the potential to be an elite SEC LB.

If Santos would switch and we don't land Brown then we won't be as set as LB as some would think.
