'12 MS LB Richie Brown

Brown is an OLB to me in 4-3 or 3-4. His speed is suited for the outside. Plus he isn't used to getting off blocks from watching his highlights. He would have a bit more freedom on the outside to seal the edge or to come of the edge and get to the passer. Santos is a Mike or Strongside backer all day. I think the key man for us if we go to the 3-4 will be Maggitt though. He's a perfect Jack LB.

Sounds like it's not an "if" anymore. Austin Ward just tweeted that Sunseri will be installing a 3-4.

well im glad to hear about the vol for life program. im sure richie will be hearing all about that. Im not sure if he knows about the DC position. He hasnt shared that with me if so. Tomorrow is a big day for him though. I wish i could be there with them.

got my own family to take care of though:hmm:

VFL program is not just for the players. Be sure to tell your parents that they need to have a clear understanding of what VFL is really about and be sure that they meet Andre. Dre takes care of the players through the program and Heather and kris Ann take care of the family concerns through the program. Together they create a happy medium, and they'll be the ones to contact if your parents have any concerns.

Tell them to find me. I'll be the with the family in FULL UT gear.. ... loud and obnoxious at the basketball game though,... because that's what I do. :eek:lol:

You are the best advocate for us. Someone who knows Dooley and the staff and your primary interest is your son's future and well being. That add's a ton of weight to your support.

Thank you MZTerry :hi:

Man, if we could land Brown, that would just be another step in greatly improving our front seven. McCullers, Obrien, Sentimore, Santos, Peters, King, and Brown. SEC east has been put on notice.

Brown is a great fit for a 3-4 defense as an OLB IMO. Much better than a 4-3 OLB. That has to be a huge selling point this weekend for the kid and I'm sure the staff will focus on that.

I agree wholeheartedly. MZTERRY is a one women wrecking crew when it comes to recruiting!!!!

I agree with engie that it's difficult at the moment to get an accurate read on Richie. UT has a good enough shot as any.

But I will submit this point...although UT has a very storied history with putting out NFL players....you have to START somewhere. MSU had a couple of nice runs where we put out some solid guys, no "headliners" but good all around players, most of which are still in the league.

I think we are comparing apples to oranges (no pun intended) because the 3 guys that are starting (White pre ACL injury, Chaney, and Wright) were all produced my Mullen and the current staff...

Mayo, Ayers..etc...weren't players Dooley coached or developed...

And last I checked...LB was a "blue collar" position. I know that was meant as a back-handed comment but we accept who we are, hard working, blue collar, less flash...

Tennessee is guaranteed to have a former Vol with a Super Bowl Ring this year with 8 teams left..what does that tell ya chief?

I think he would be a great fit for the VOL no matter which one we were running.

This guy is going to be fun to watch. Can't wait to hear the buzz after the weekend visits. Has he made his other visits yet? Is this his last visit?

Still has visits set up to MSU (1/20), Ole Miss (1/27) and Southern Miss (1/17).

500 tackles tells me he's a tough sob that doesn't get hurt! He hurts people

Yeah, I understand that man. Have you ever been to Knoxville before? You'd love it.

What about you? Where do you go to school?

I joined the Army right out of high school. I am 27 now and finishing my degree at USM (nursing) I have been through knoxville. I know its beautiful.

first off welcome to the VN family! glad to see you taking an interest in your brothers college decision. second what do you think of our site and our fans? and lastly do you also get on his other college choices message boards? if so how do they compare as far as quality and fans? sorry to bug ya, just would like to know how a true outsider (hopefully soon to be a vol supporter) feels about us. thanks

I actually dont get on the other boards. I read this and liked how much interest was shown here. I saw some people saying UT didnt have much of a chance. I wanted to let them know that UT has the same chance as the others. It will come down to a decision after much thought and prayer by my dad and brother.

ARIK... Good luck to your little brother where ever he does choose (hopefully UT). You are right, it has to fit him and where he wants to be for the next four years. Solid friends and programs will help a lot during that time. Please come back and visit. When you get the time, if you could answer ERTEL's questions it would be nice. Some of us on here never venture to other boards and would like to know what others think.

GO VOLS!!

I have never joined or communicated on other boards. I have read some. Some people doubt my brother. They dont think he is as fast as his times say. They are probably just some other athletes cousin trying to knock down my brother. I havent read any of that on this board. Ya'll keep it classy.

most of us try to. what is richie's biggest factor as far as just football is concerned? scheme? potential playing time? potential to play for chamionships? (conference at least) what would you say he looks for in a school? thanks again for getting on here and easing our minds. Just for the record, try to stay in the recruiting forums and your opinion of our site will still stay positive. this is where most of our best posters hang around lol more sanity in here.

Awesome Arik, hope your brother enjoys Knoxville. Great university, great city, great people. Good luck with your nursing degree man.

For my family... Thank you for your service. For UT football... People start talking about the UT corps of LBs alot more today. Here's hoping your brother becomes part of those conversations.
