This guy is a monster, we need to get him. It would be a good addition for our D-line that is lacking some depth right now

"So far, I love Alabama and I have always liked LSU so they are still up there for me too. Those are probably my top two right now."
- Rivals Article dated 10/6

Visited Bama this past weekend.

James looks like a man playing among boys. He was physically one of the most impressive players on the field. He is powerful. He tends to go straight up when coming off the ball and tries to overpower the opposing player. He is a solid player who could become a dominant force at the next level.

Rivals from the 2011 US Army National Combine in San Antonio.

Long Beach (Miss.) defensive tackle Nick James was the most impressive performer at his position. Holding early offers from Ole Miss and Tennessee, the 6-foot-5, 335-poud defender was a bull in pass rush drills. With his size and athleticism James is sure to receive offers from all over the country when all is said and done.

Rivals

Assets: Massive upper body and superior strength.
Areas for improvement: He needs to continue working on different pass-rushing moves and watch his weight.
What was most impressive at combine: James clearly has gotten better with his hand placement since Top Gun this summer. He just overpowered the majority of his opponents in the one-on-one portion of this camp.
Conclusion: Currently has two SEC offers and looks perfect for any defense that is running the 3-4 defense because of his overall size and strength.

Craig Haubert

An active defensive tackle prospect was Nick James (Long Beach, Miss./Long Beach). While he did not look as big as listed, he was still tough to miss. He is a barrel-chested big man who flashed good explosion. He was active with his hands, tried to work moves and showed flashes of being able to be a disruptive player in the trenches.

Also, PF believes LSU and a few others are ahead of Tennessee at this point for James.

Got...No....Shot

Bama, LSU, then probably Miss. St.

I don't know about Mississippi State. They may have a slight shot, but we'll just have to see how their defense responds to a new coordinator and loss of 3 or 4 solid starters. He may not want to be a part of something broken.

I think 'bama (of course), LSU, and UT would be a more realistic top 3. We have a shot with this coaching staff.

I wouldn't count out Miss. St. CDM is and will continue to head them in the right direction.

Named Defensive MVP of the Army Combine by Rivals.

On the recruiting side of the things, he has picked up offers from Ole Miss and Tennessee and says that Alabama, LSU, Florida State and Texas are also showing interest. He lists the Crimson Tide as the early favorite.
