All of the programs that have offered except for Alabama like Ward at defensive end. The Tide is recruiting him at outside linebacker, Ward said.
Among the schools that have offered, Ward said Alabama and Mississippi State were recruiting him the hardest. He speculated Florida State might be the next program to extend an offer. His plan is to attend camp there this summer.
Where else might Ward, arguably the top defensive recruit in Mississippi, visit?
"Probably LSU and Auburn," Ward said. "I've been to both of them for games."
- ScoutWard is one of the most coveted players in the country and nearly all of the SEC have extended an offer.
"Alabama is in touch with me just about everyday," said Channing. "LSU, Ohio State and all of them are writing me on facebook everyday.
"I am really just looking at the ones around home. I am looking at LSU, Auburn, Mississippi State, Alabama and Ole Miss.
"I am not trying to get too far away from home because I want my family to be able to come watch me play all of the time."
A quartet of SEC schools appear to be making the talented defensive end a priority.
"Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Tennessee are talking with me everyday," said Ward. "I like all of them a lot, but I am not really looking at all of that right now
How do we go from almost having him commit to us this time last year, to barely mentioned in the top 5 a year later? I know we haven't slowed recruiting him according to his quotes. Surely our crackhead ex d-line coach didn't make that big of a difference here.
